wyoming Antelope

So we hunted around Cokeville Wyoming last Saturday and I was floored by the number of Antelope we DIDNT see. Does anyone know if they move in that area later in the year or what the deal is. We did a ton of glassing and driving and seen six Antelope all day long. Very suprised, last time years ago we hunted closer to Pinedale and there was not a problem finding them.

Antelope prefer wide open grass lands, hilly, sagebrush not so much. I'm just guessing that it could be the terrain.

i had a similar problem this week as well. lots of miles and saw about 50 or so lopes on private lands but only 1 where i had a tag. best i can tell is that the opening weekend and following two weeks they have been pressured off to private lands. i did see a ton of deer though. wouldn't have had any problem filling a tag for them.

This is what most people think. But, poke around Northwestern CO some time and you may rethink that! A friend of mine finally drew a 2, 201 buck tag this year and a vast majority of the Antelope that we saw were literally in or within 300 yards of Aspen trees!lightbulb Never would have believed if it had I not been there!

Near Craig as well, where we used to shoot alot of does they seemed to really like the more hilly country. Big difference there being lack of Aspens, but defenitely no lack of hills!

My suggestion would be to maybe look in some places that you would think you would find Mule Deer. If you're not seeing anything it can't hurt to look somewhere else!
