Yes you have to cut the port back about 1/4" if I remember right because the bolt stop is going to be farther back.

The instructions say to cut the port back, but not because of the bolt stop. The bolt stop has nothing to do with ejection on a Rem. 700. It's there to stop the bolt from coming out of the receiver when you don't want it to. The reason to cut the port back is so a loaded cartridge can be removed without removing the bolt. It would bepend on the oal of the loaded cartridge.
