Want to trade 84 (12 we're pulled with no damage) 128grn hammer hunters for lighter weight hammer/absolutes in .257 cal. Looking for around the same amount if able.
For some reason my gun is not liking them? Thanks for looking.

Ryan

1:7" Bartlein on a Defiance AnTi built by SPR. I've tried 2 different ladders with RL26 and N565. Found some flat nodes and tried adjusting seating depths, nothing.
It shoots the 110 grn SBD IIs pretty dang good, so I know the rifle can shoot. I just like the design of Hammers and run them in 4 other rifles, so it'd be nice to shoot them.
Just sent Steve an email. I know with the recent threads lighter with speed is killing, so maybe I need to try the 90AH or 92HH?

My best group this morning using RL26 was a 3 shot group right at .712" at 103 yards. I'm use to hammers touching at that distance, so not good enough.lol. Speed was 3090 / 3102 / 3107 fps. Easy bolt lift but starting to get shiny ejector marks so I'm not wanting to use that. Granted it was 95+ deg outside using RL26 so 🤷🏼‍♂️.

What are you shooting?

25 SST. Talked with Steve through email. He thinks it's probably a stability issue. I checked the gun to confirm it is a 7 twist. Ran the Berger stability calculator on it for the weather yesterday and it's showing 1.65. So just barely out of the marginal area in the stable area. Maybe that's it?
Question now is what do I try? Go light and run the 90AH / 92HH or stay a little heavier with the 119AH / 121 HH? I built this gun with a short barrel with only shooting 5-600yds max in mind. If anyone knows about flinging light .257 cal hammers it's you Bean. What do think?
Thanks.

Run the 92HH

I'll get some ordered if I don't get any hits on the trade. I may have a tight barrel on this one as well. So far my 25-06 has seen faster speed with same bullets even though the SST has more capacity. But, it's now a 280ai so I can't live in the past!lol

Finally got them to shoot! Ran them in to a .050" jump, took a flat node at 55.5 grns of N565 and boom! That'll do. So going to mark this thread as close. Gonna keep them.lol

Good deal. Still if I were you, I'd try the lighter bullets too and see how you like it. With a solid, more velocity, RPMs and stability will be your friend at the 500 yard and in distance.
