Remington 40-X - 300 Win Mag
Location: Sacramento, CA
Price: $1250 or trade see below
This is an early Remington Custom Shop 40-X serial number 18XXX chambered in .300 Win Mag (single shot) with a 27" stainless barrel (Hart I believe). Factory drill and tap holes on barrel, top of receiver and side of receiver. Action is very smooth and the adjustable trigger is light and crisp. It appears the rifle has been bedded because I can see a tiny amount of the bedding material under the edge of the stock. Also note there are bed adjusting screws on the which I think were only present on the earlier 40-X models. Overall it presents very well, the bore is bright, bluing is excellent and the wood is in good shape. The are some minor scratches and some finish wear on the stock near the comb and also underneath where the hand-stop would go.
I spoke to the Remington Custom Shop and they dated the gun to 1964 (so C&R buyer should be OK or ship to FFL). I purchased this gun from the original owner thinking I wanted to get into long range shooting but now with my first kid on the way I have decided I just don't have the time. Would love for this gun to go to someone who will enjoy it and get some good use out of it.
Will consider all trades and especially C&R, Remington Model 8/81, Colt Woodsman, pre-lock S&W revolvers, or let me know what you have.. FYI, I have this also listed with my local gun classifieds but I think it may be a little specialized so I decided to also list here.
Please send all questions PM only and thanks for looking.
