Would the .408 ultra mag or the 416 rem mag necked to .408 to use those bullets be worth making.I want a ultra long range that weighs 8.5 pounds not 25 pounds. In a weatherby Accumark style rifle. The 416 weatherby accubrake should work.Is there 400 gr soft pt and 320 gr soft point for hunting?

Forget the .408 for your purposes. The machines solid probably won't be a good game killer and they cost a fortune. An 8.5 lb rifle would shake you to the core even with a good brake.

Isn't that called a .404 Jeffries? That's the parent case for the RUM, so skip the wildcat and go with the parent, right?

Seriously, what is there that you want to do with a .408 that a .338 RUM can't do?
