Still pretty inexperienced at reloading, but I'm learning. Have shot 9 pieces of brass 4-5 times and working charges up slowly. Now loaded up 30 rounds to fire form more and do some seating depth tests at the same time using 69.0g of H1000 3 rounds at each bullet style and depth. Labradar and shooting at 500 yards. Peak of heat of the day from about 3pm-6pm 82-83 degress 56-57% humity at 900ft ASL
Had been shooting at about .070" off lands, so started there using

EOL 195 bullets
.07 avg 2838fps, 45 es, 22.6 std dev
.03 avg 2865, 13, 7.7
.02 avg 2863, 16, 7.9
.01 avg 2882, 13, 6.7

Hybrid 180
.07 avg 2868, 15, 8.3
.05 avg 2888, 29, 16.2
.03 avg 2904, 19, 10.2
.01 avg 2899, 14, 7.8

Gained about 40 fps on each bullet from seating bullet out further from .07 to .01 off lands.

So are these numbers saying more than just simply taking them at face value? (Some groups are similar speeds, some are getting progressively faster) Can this indicate a sweet spot to jump or anything like that?

Then just did 3 each of two other bullets my brother had at an estimated .070 off
F 184 avg 2898, 8, 4.4
EH 175 avg 2926, 50, 25

Thought it was interesting that the F184 was 30fps faster than the H180s
They all shot decent groups, some better than others. Never put a tape measure to them, just a photo at the end. .07 off shot well, as did .01 off

Today I shot berger H180s and EH175 to pressure. 33 Dec temps, H1000, f215

H180s
67.0 = 2752
67.0 = 2786
68.0 = 2842
69.0 = 2881
70.0 = 2939
71.0 = 2991 very slight bolt
72.0 = 3023 heavy bolt
73.0 = 3090 very heavy bolt

EH175
68.0 = 2867
69.0 = 2900
70.0 = 2931
71.0 = 3001 very slight bolt
72.0 = 3049 heavy bolt
73.0 = 3101 very heavy bolt

The 184 likely built more pressure too.

What is your H20 capacity?

How does one go about finding out what pressure really is?

I have not measured case capacity. It is the same reamer print as bigngreen built for dave6.5 that scouter ended up with
you cant tell pressure for sure without a pressure barrel but just estimates from reading primers etc that give general comparisons.

Ok thanks. I think I'm getting a feel for reading primers in this LAW m704 action. I dont get ejector marks or swipes. It doesnt take much powder at all and I get cratering and then it gradually increases.

When i have heavy bolt lift, I get a secondary ring around the crater, the crater rim is more pronounced, and the primer has some flattening on edge. At this point, the brass measures +.0005 base to shoulder, also on the wall/shoulder diameter, and sometimes at the base/web diameter.

If i back off of that a little more than 2g, then there is zero bolt lift, no secondary ring around crater, and crater is less pronounced, the case is no more stretched than at lower powder charges.

Thats how its its done:D

Like i said, I'm just starting out, so I'm all ears. I welcome all advice or criticism. I really like my 6.0 cm and wanted this as a its big brother. Looks like it's pretty close to your 7 max, which I probably would have gone with had I seen that a year or so ago.

Try some N570 in it and you'll probably gain another 50'.
