Winchester model 12

So I've been shooting a win model 12 20 ga for over 40 years that was given to me by my father, I gave my son that gun and found a win mode 12 12 ga for myself . Last weekend I picked up a model 12 16 ga at a gun show for a steal and this got me to thinking I just need a 28 ga to finish out the model 12 collection. I can't recall ever seeing one come up for sale on any forums I frequent so looked on some auction sites and wow I couldn't believe the price they bring! Do y'all ever see them come up for sale and are they always in the 2-3 k range ?

M42 in 410 and M12 28's are $$$$, I have seen total beaters bring $1200, but put another 800-1000 in it for restoration and another 5+ generations can use and enjoy them. I have dreams of sending a set of M12's and a set of M97's to Doug Turnbull but until I win the lottery it's just not going to happen.......

Them model 12's are super $$$$$ now. Mine in 16 past well its been a long time now with the 2 1/2 inch shells. Load my own. Again depending on condition. Sold my one in 12 Ga a few years back for a very healthy profit it was in maybe 75-80 %. for some 1700.00 only paid like 200 in the 70's. Have never seen one in 28 Ga ??

that one in 12 ga was a pre-war was a higher grade with very fancy walnut & checkered oiled stock

Was able to pick up a m42 410 In really good shape at a gun show a couple weeks ago, wasn't cheap but wasn't to bad for its condition. One step closer to completing my set

I bought a set of Browning copies in 28, 20 and 410 about 30 years ago in grade 1 and my buddy got the grade 5 set. He has never fired his and mine have only about 5 boxes thru ea gauge. In addition i have my dad's 12 and I picked up a 3" 12 and a model 42 410. They will be passed on to my grandkids along with 7 Browning A-5's.

love them little guy's the 20's-28 & 410's great for grouse / woodcock and such 12's not as much now my 16 O/U Browning my pheasant w/ 1oz NP shot 51/2 does wonders for the long corn field shooting zones but have taken my share with the little guy's also in NH & VT bird hunting road trips,

I seen one in 28 gauge at a gun show maybe five or six years ago picked it up and looked at it. Guy wanted 5,000, I put it back down was out of the price range I could go on it but was the only one I ever actually held in 28.

I have my grandpas model 12 16 gauge he bought in 1942 which my dad gave to me a few years ago. I use it exclusively for pheasants. Light weight to carry and deadly on roosters with 1 1/8 oz of lead 5's.
