Why i like my 260 rem so much now that there is no ammo over the 6.5 cm

I chose the 260 rem over the 6.5 years ago because I already had the 308 win and 243 win .I thought a 260 would be better than both of them in many ways and it is .I talked to a young military guy yesturday who had a very nice 6.5 cm new rifle but he couldn't find any ammo and didn't reload .I told him get that rifle rechambered and he would always have plenty of brass .I told him I would help him load some 6.5 cm if he could get the brass .I had about 100 pcs of 6.5 cm so I will load them up for him .I knew when they came out with the 6.5 cm thst brass and ammo would be tough to get .I am the same way with my 264 win mag .I have made all the brass from it from 7 mm rem mag brass .I just started making 338 win mag brass from 7 mm rem mag brass also .It really helps loading for easy to find cases these days .I even do the same with my 338-378 weatherby I make it from 378 and 416 weatherby .There is no telling what is in the future for reloading but these hard to find calibers will disapear quick !good shoot ing and merry Christmas to all the long range shooters !

6.5CM ammo is still available if you look hard.
But, the shortage is no different than the component shortage for powder and primers.
That being said, I don't own a 6.5CM. And would probably buy a .260Rem over one too. Just for stubborness sake.

Anyone that reloads and owns a .260 already, has IMO a superior cartridge to the 6.5 CM. The 6.5CM is a fine cartridge and if a non- reloader was looking for a 6.5 cartridge, it'd be a better option. With the newest powders available, the .260 really shines for the reloader.

Everything is hard to find right now. And I still see more 6.5 Creedmoor ammo on the shelves than .260 Remington. Nothing wrong with either cartridge, but I don't see 260 for sale at big box stores like I see .243, .308, and 6.5 Creedmoor for sale. So I don't agree with 6.5 Creedmoor being hard to get. There's equal amounts of manufacturers making brass for Creedmoor as 260 and a whole lot more making loaded ammo for the Creedmoor.

I see .260 everywhere I go and zip for the 6.5 CM and same for my 7-08 I am really wanting to buy a gun based on ammo at this time, sucks to say that! I have considered a .260 just or this reason!

2. Then buy the rifle
3. Only feed that rifle handloads
4. Laugh at people who say one chambering is superior to another because of one-off anecdote about an unprepared random guy during massive component and ammo shortage
5. Shoot 30 cal thumpers anyways because they're inherently superior to the metrics

Ever thought that 6.5 Creedmoor is hard to find because it's popular? It's not like the components and factory ammunition just weren't made so they can't be found, it's all gone because people bought it. It won't "disappear quick" because there are already a significant number in circulation, they're popular with average-Joe shooters, any they shoot better than many "classic" calibers for those shooters.

I have made creed cases from 243 brass. Pretty simple you just run brass in creed die trim and size again. Load as always to finish with fireform and this works great.

This is the car equivalent of saying go buy an 1997 Ford Escort because Teslas are always sold out.

So the .260 is a Ford Escort? I think your a bit off your rocker in the comparison. I see the just of your point but the analogy isn't that great.

For the average hunter, like most of the world not on LRH they have 2 - 6 boxes of ammo and there is nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can have $2k of ammo because they want to be "prepared" so you can miss me with that! I have been a competitive archer and bowhunter my whole life just got into guns and its the worst time. Stuff happens and its not like anyone could foresee all that happened so...

I love my 260 and have been seriously considering AI'ing it. Sturner's post just enhances that consideration. It would join my other AI's; the 250 Savage, the 25:06, and the 243. As you can see, I really like the Ackley's. And after the 260, there will be the 7:08. Just sayin'

Absolutely correct! When I decided to buy a Long Range Hunter I searched for a .260 for exactly that reason. I buy .308 cases by the bucket-load, and never expect to run out in my lifetime.
