Who's hunting with a foundation stock?

Anybody lugging a foundation stock in say the elk woods?

My buddy just snagged a used Genesis...says it's the most comfortable stock he's used, dead on recoil, no bedding req'd, weight it up as desired, no cold metal on cold days for my wimpy hands. Seems like a no-brainer for speed goats...but having made the mistake of lugging an 18lb chassis rifle into woods on a backpack hunt, I said I'd never do that again.

What are your foundation builds weighing in at? And are you using it for big game or just range days or shooting yokes off a tripod?

So far on the more higher end stocks/chassis I've owned Manners PRS/EH1 and an MPA BA Comp and an AIAX..seems like a centurion/genesis may carry similar to a PRS-1 with a similar barrel contour?

You've pretty much nailed both the upside & the downside.

They are gorgeous, built like a tank & everyone I know says they are super comfortable.

The Genesis Light weights 5lbs..... Most, if not all Foundation stocks I've seen are PRS rigs in the ~20lb area with truck axles for barrels.

In the end, it's up to the end user. Can you/do you want to swing the extra weight to rock the Foundation?

X2 on using in PRS. Currently have two Foundations - 223 AI and 6.5 CM, both with 26" barrels. One of the stocks is a lightweight model with a weight set in the holes in the fore end. They're tanks.

If you want to you can still put a light action and short barrel on one, turn a 7# build into a 10# build with the only change being more stock weight. The Revelation papers at 3lb 14oz, and the Dominion at 3lb 6oz, those are a lot skinnier than Genesis I use. Fit and feel of the stock is a very large part of perceived recoil, and these are plush, so you could run a larger magnum cartridge to make up for barrel length.

~3lbs isn't terrible (still a fat girl). I need to check up on that Dominion, i've always skipped over it when drooling on the Foundation site.

Sold right there, I can do 14lbs, but that's about the max I'd be willing to strap to a pack. I toted 12 this year but it was a 7# rifle and a 5lb tactical udder...why, because I'm dumb and I spend mo ey to cut weight just to add it back in other, non-essential areas

Me too. I bought a fancy top quilt and ultralite sleeping pad, then I hauled a steel stove/pot set in the pack with them But man a real wood-burning stove was worth the weight penalty on that trip.

Another bump...close to pulling the trigger on a foundation for a target build...I dislike chassis for feel, but they are certainly more versatile. Any other inputs/suggests?

I looked at a KRG Bravo to weight up on the cheap, but talking to KRG, the top two actions right now (subjective, I know) have fitment issues and require modification (impact) no fix for the lone peak fuzion issues.

of note, but the time I weight up a Bravo, heavy rails, adjustable LOP and rear weights, it's nearly $850, now throw a decent pain job on it and I'm within $200 or wo of a new foundation. I just don't see that being in the same ballpark shootability wise for over $1k. Although I see a ton of love for the bravo.

If you want more weight order a "light" model there are honeycomb holes in the barrel channel that you can put metal weights into, and the recoil pad takes spacers just like a McMillian that you could put metal spacers into instead of the poly ones Foundation sells.

I shoot multiple McRee's chassis also, and the Foundations run better for me.

I looked into getting one of these for a semi-tactical/benchrest build, but seems I would need to go with the Revelation at most to keep weight down. Still studying it over between this and Manners T4A or PRS model of some form.

It's a 24" proof sendero contour. This stock is the standard.
