I hunted over 30 years with a bow, and was always amazed at what they would do.

I saw this Video and had to share it . There is a another thing that this Video clears up about the
    5.7 x 28 and body armor.

    Enjoy :)

i would've thought the field point would have gone through as well. not surprised that the broadhead cut through it. it's basically 3 razor sharp knives travelling really fast and cutting through fabric.

This video cleared up absolutely nothing about the fn5.7 and soft body armor. First of all I had 2 different fn5.7a and a ps90. The fn5.7 will absolutely go through body armor. The us government will not permit the sale of the ammo the 5.7 was designed to shoot. The forged aluminum penetrater bullets that would go through this target like a hot knife through butter. Also I’ve seen some elite ammunition products go through 2A body armor. The ps90 with standard fmj ammo will also go through 2A armor. I don’t mind watching a “test” like this but it’s kinda misinformation. Also it is a felony to process any ammo deemed “armor peircing”by the atf that is fireable in a handgun you have in your possession.

Sorry the Video offended you. but that was not the objective.

It was a comparison of the tested pistol cartridges and no more.

I wished they had tested the 22 WMR also because it has 75 FT/lbs more energy that the 5.7 x 28 with the same bullet weight (40 grains) and almost identical velocity.

Also you cant compare Armor piercing ammo because other pistol ammo doesn't come with that type of bullet. I have shot the 5.7x28
at hogs and found them less suited than the other pistol cartridges
    including the 22 WMR.

If all the pistol ammo was loaded with an armor piercing bullet, the outcome of that test would be greatly different. The 5.7 x 28 Is a great little cartridge but like the 6.5 CM it has been greatly hyped beyond its ability. I had also believed some of the hype for the 5.7 x 28 and until i saw this test of it being compared to other like pistol bullets I had no prof that it would or would not perform like I had heard.

Apples to apples testing is the only to get a true comparison. I may not like the outcome but it was informative and based on my experiences with the cartridges tested they were very close to what I had seen in real life situation's.

I think they just threw the bow in for kicks because in the original
intro they only talked about the 4 pistol cartridges.
the bullet issue doesn't matter because we cant get the AP rounds. (Just like the 308 AP is not available to us. To compare the AP 308 to the commercial ammo we can buy would be the same scenario.

I just thought the bow part was interesting and actually thought it would defeat the body armor based on past experiences on game.
in the test he used a 70 pound draw weight, I consistently shot/hunted with 85 to 95 lbs draw weight and this would have surely
changed the out come, but most bow hunters consider 70 pounds draw weight the average for most. Nothing like a good test to bring things into perspective.

Unlike some test, this was very fair and the vest was a good median to test with because each hit was in a different area and the material was undamaged due to other shots. some media changes if shot more than one time. sorry your favorite pistol didn't come out on top but nether did the bow. They were actually very close to each other.

I am doing some testing using WW 1 AP bullets in a 300 rum to see what the penetration will be with 5 to 600 ft/sec added velocity for hog hunting. I realize the results will be totally different than with commercial ammo.

I have a crap ton of pulled
Grade 1 and 3 308 ap 1940s black tips. I’ve loaded them in 308s to 300 win mags. They are awsome. I think they are around 680 on the Rockwell scale. They are impressive. After going through ar500 3/8 steel plate a set up bag of quickcrete and lodging in a stump they can be used for a center punch still, if u can find one that didn’t crack into several pieces.
