Wind. It's the most variable variable out there. Especially in the field when you have canyons, multiple wind channels, etc. The rest of it is easier to practice to your hearts content, but wind is a fickle beotch.

Mine happens to be Trigger control. Arthritis is a pita.

Hunting at range.... wind.

Old enough my shooting fundamentals are getting consistent, long enough along in life to afford good repeatable gear and practice ammo. Modern tools pretty much have gravity figured.... but even staring out a window at work with an anemometer practicing gauging winds effects. I still miss 9 outta 10 shots on target from a wind error.

Seems easier to master all aspects of shooting when you are young. One of our juniors at Perry posted this score on the 3rd day of CMP Cup matches. Frank Green, Bartlein Barrels, donated the blank. I spun the barrel. She got a free barrel, but she made us all proud of her accomplishment.

Shooting 99% standing with 8 Xs (3 inch ring) is beyond outstanding. 797/800 across the course shows mastery of marksmanship fundamentals.

I really need to work on my offhand shooting, my offhand has gotten progressively worse since I quit shooting service rifle matches and Garand matches about 7 years ago.

it is totally age related.
at 25 it was the wind.
at 75 now it is my own body.

all the knowledge learned and experience obtained over 60 years of hunting and shooting has run into the wall of my own physical deterioration.
