what is the right scope for me

Looking to get an encore and use it for shooting longer ranges at 4 to 6 hundred yards. what would be a good scope to start with but not drain the checking account. have used leupold in the past and love that scope would a 3x9 be ok or should i get a bigger scope please helpgun)

I would go at least 4x-16x if not 6x-24x. I just sold a 4-16 and bought a 6-24 Burris to put on my 338 RUM. So the higher power is there if you need it.
