What is the best short or long

[Short Case]

I'm new to the form, I looking to get into long range shooting.
My first though was to build a 6mm wsm, 7mm wsm and a 8mm wsm
I'm wanting to be able to shoot in the 500 yard to 1000 yard range
But I do not think the 7wsm and 8wsm are going to be enough
I think the 6wsm will be all right
All rifle are going to be build with 26 in. barrels and hand loaded to get the most of them
I working on building a 500yd. and 1000yd range so I can under stand what it take to be able the hunt and made clean shoot at that distance

What, exactly, are you "shooting"?

The 6mm for Pronghorn 105 to 115 grain bullets
The 7mm for Muledeer 120 to 140 grain bullets
The 8mm for Elk 160 to 180 grain bullets

I have a 6wsm and I wouldn't build another. The gain over a 6-284 is too small for the additional powder needed IMO. The 7wsm will be your long range rifle as it has the best bullet selection. There aren't many bullets available for a 8mm that I would consider for long range use ( in this case 600+yds).

Build a 270 or 7mm WSM and shoot everything with it!!! Use the 165 Matrix or 180 Berger bullets.
