    How about this definition:
Semi-Custom: a rifle built using more than one component from a factory rifle. I.e R700 rifle and barrel, Or tikka action and bottom metal.
Full custom: All parts were chosen from different manufacturers

Everyone is caught up on the action as mentioned before. So a Bighorn is better than a trued Remington (supposedly). Couldn’t we supposedly say that a Bartlein barrel is better than a Pac-nor? Yet nobody is worried about the barrel. Not to mention a Manners vs a Bell and Carlson.....on and on and on.

OOORRR...a wood stock that is truly a piece of art. It cost $2k to make, yet, the bell and Carlson would easily outperform it with its composite material and aluminum bedding block.

Just had to muddy up the waters for everyone ;)

It's because the action is the distinguishing factor, if you look at my #80 post Kirby separates the full custom from factory custom rifles (some of components are similar from with full custom builds) in his gallery and I am pretty sure they are just as accurate. That's why I noted ...

Man, I wish my full customs shot as well as my semi-customs. So far, I've never had a full custom gun built which out shot the Savages I've slapped together on the tailgate of my truck in a Cabelas parking lot. The customs look nicer, feel nicer, cost significantly more and made me the envy of all my shooting buddies, but none of them have out shot the "franken-guns" I've put together.

I have more semi-custom than full custom so I cannot attest to that. But yes, my semi-custom in Savage actions are shooters but that was not the intent of my post. Due to school, I have yet to fully explore my full custom. :(

My first build was an Interarms Mauser action, bought as an action only. Just so I have this straight, it's a full custom, but if I yanked a barrel that didn't shoot now it's semi-custom?

I believe a trued M700 is every bit as good as a custom action depending on who did the work. The custom action only saved on time which usually equates to money in the long run since it's already a blueprinted action.
