So got a 22LR savage bolt gun and my TBAC Takedown finally came. I am running a SWFA HD 10X and currently shooting Gemtech subs. Have shot out to 300 on small steel very consistent but gets a little hairy at 400 with maybe being able to hit 5 out 10 on small steel. Just wondering what you guys are running to those of you that are shooting these distances. Again this is all just good fun not hunting or anything like that, just pushing the limit with steel.

I've ran it out to 400
I've also used federal hunter match but the lower bc shows up in the wind at lr. It has a .13g1 vs eley .15g1

I compete in 22lr f class @ 50 and 100yds... and, I have ran my main match rifle to 300yds with a 10x swfa ss in the past and easily hit a 3"x5" small steel. I use rws r50 and federal um22. this ammo is very accurate in my rifle.

I have had good success with both Lapua Center-X and Federal Gold Mefal HV Match. Past 300 Yards, the higher velocity Federal Match with an additional 120FPS performs better in my rifle with higher hit percentages.

I have tried many different brands and found that generally ammo with 40+ grain lead bullets worked in my rifles. Jacketed bullets were not as accurate. (The lead bullets seem to engrave the rifling better)

The RWS seems to be the best in most of my rifles. Some of it is very expensive but until you try the different ones you won't know what is best in your rifle. I have a T Bolt Browning that shoots the cheap Remington target better than all of the expensive brands of ammo (Nice).

I also tried the 60 grain subsonic ammo and found the accuracy poor in my rifles. The only thing I found consistently was that the lead bullets out performed all of the jacketed bullets for accuracy. We shot 200 yard steel targets and you needed at least 40 grain bullet to knock them down at that distance.

Just my opinion

Interestingly, with the <100 yard reported G1 BC's Lapua CX-.178 and the Federal HV GM Match-.130, I have to bring the higher BC rated Lapua CX down to .120 to make accurate hits from 200-400 yards ....using 50/100 yard zero's. At ranges past 200 yards wind corrections between the two is within .5 MILS at the longer distances.

0DB6CD2A-9757-40B1-BA3C-48F727D4564A.jpeg The fed hunter match runs at 1195fps according to drops
The eley edge runs at 1120fps according to drops
At 300 yards the edge has .9mils less drift in 10mph wind than the fed hunter despite being 75fps slower.
I actually just competed in a prs 22 match and made 9/10 shots on a 2/3 ipsc target at 300 yards. The .15g1 and velocity has been spot on for me. The pic is my 22. Cz455 in a boyds pro varmit. Mark4 6.5-20.

Canhunter...Nice rifle!
The Lapua CX runs 1054FPS vs 1170FPS for the Federal in my rifle. At 300 Yards both do very well on the 60% IPSC targets. Once I start getting much past 300 yards, the Federal works better....I'll have to give the Eley a try!!!

They eley match eps and eley edge run exact same dope, the match eps is quite a bit more money, I haven't tested it past 300, but I'm betting it's a little better es than the edge. I just didn't want to spend the money when I was confident that the edge would be good enough for the ranges of the match
Both targets are the edge. The white at 200, I corrected for wind and put the two close to the dot. The other is at 330yards. The wind kind of snatched the 4th shot out on me, but the shot felt good, so could've had a lower es. The nine shots I put on target at the comp clustered in a 5" group, very level though

I shoot cci standard velocity 40grn (1050 I think) and green tag in same weight pretty well in my favorite little 22. That's 25 shots.....
