What’s your pick, 300win or 7-300win

I've read through Nathan Foster's whole website, and the guy has a mountain of knowledge. I have also corresponded with him by email and he is very cordial. I sent him photos of the deer that I shot with a 140amax at 980yds for his wound research. His info on the 7mm practical is the reason why it is my second choice.
May I ask what was your first choice? and was that what you shot your deer with?

If you were to compare the recoil numbers between the .300 WinMag with 215 Bergers and the 7-300 with 195 Bergers I would bet they are almost the same, probably close enough that a shooter wouldn't notice the difference.

I did lots of testing with a recoil slide. For sure there was more than a significant difference when bullet weight was that much different. I would put money on a blind folded guy noticing a big difference.

If you liked the web site, you will love his books. I have them all. Best money I have spent in years, hands down.

I punched the numbers into a recoil calculator and they were so similar that I wouldn't figure one would notice. Guess some people are just more sensitive than others...?

That one heck of a poke, I would like to see wounding pic.

Here is the liver and the exit hole of the doe I shot at 980 with a 140 amax initial muzzle velocity was 2800.
