weight of your pack rifle?

Just acquired this Kimber Montana in 6.5 CM. Talley rings and a Vortex Razor HD Light Hunter 2-10x40 with the G4 reticle. It has treated me well so far! I verified holds on 8" steel all the way to 600 on Saturday weighs 6 lbs 6 oz. I plan to use it for deer hunting when ounces are more important that Longer Range capabilities.

I have a couple, I'm a bit redundant tho. 243 Adirondack and 250AI. 243 is 5lbs 14ozs with VXR 2-7 and 250 is 6lbs 7.5ozs with VXIII 2.5-8 BC. I just ordered a Barrett Fieldcraft 6mm CM and I have a VX2 2-7 ultralight for it so that should come in under 5lbs 14ozs. I put the Adirondack together for my dad (80}, he uses it around the farm. The 250AI was build by Kampfeld back when he had no wait time for his builds.

What weight do you look for when you choose a rifle for backpack hunting.

Lets look at scoped, stocked and unloaded(no ammo) for comparison sake.

I know everyone has opinions on accessories like bi-pod and slings but those can easily be attached so lets look at just the rifle weight.

Cooper 92. 300 wm. Warne mountain tech rings, with March scope. As near as I can tell weighing with my fish scales. 7lb 4oz. Am working with it and it is showing some promise. If I had to grab a proven rifle it would be a Rbros 7mm wsm with Leupold vx5 weighing 7lb 12oz.

Remington Long Action, 27in Bartlein barrel in 270win. McMillian Carbon Fibre stock. Topped with a VX6 3-18 in Talley rings. Weighs a tad over 9lb (4.17kg)

done quite a few 2000ft climbs with this an find its a good weight to shoot comfortably once I'm on the top.

I use to carry a Rbros 7mm and 338 rum around but they weigh a bit.. I think I have ask Travis for one of his new carbon barrel rifles shave off some weight.. I had the kimber ascent but I didn't like shooting it ...1st shot core bore usually spot on follow ups " may the force be with you "

Just built a 6.5 Grendel 20" with Leupold 1.5x Scout, landing at 7lb 12oz

Umm hehe. I pack an 11lb Mosin right now. The first season i di that with no sling. Next season THERE WAS A SLING! Love that gun. I compensate by slimming every thing else. I usually drop my big pack and just hike out around my base camp with a moderate day pack. Nothing major.

I once tried to build my own 6.5 PRC light weight rifle.
My custom rife wish list:
1. 3 lug bolt
2. Timney ot Trigger Tech trigger
3. carbon fiber stock
4. locking bolt when on safe
5. stainless action, bolt and barrel
5. fluted bolt and barrel
6. Cerakoted
7. factory lapped barrel

But Mon Deu! The cost!

So then i looked at the SAKO Carbonlite and the Browning X-Bolt Pro. I found the X-Bolt Pro had ALL the items on my wish list except the trigger. But their Feather trigger on my rifle is now averaging 2 lbs. 9 oz. on my digital pull scale.

The SAKO was not showing me a good trigger and missing a few other things PLUS it was about $900. more money for not as many features. And I feel the elves in Finland don't build rifles any better than the Japanese Miroku workers.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
