I have a couple of Leupold scopes with 56mm objective lenses and they're 2.5" OD according to Leupold and I need scope caps for them.

I'm not sure they're compatible with the Alumina caps and they're discontinued scopes so no answer from Leupold.

I was thinking I'd buy Butler Creeks which are only $10 at Midway now (actually out of stock) but they'd be so cheesy on my VX-5 and VX-6 scopes.

In looking around I noticed Vortex caps that are really nice looking and aren't all that expensive. Plus the lids fold down flat against the scope when they're open if you want which is really nice.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Here's what I'm looking at....

BTW... The ocular lenses are twist adjustable so I thought I'd buy the cheapest possible scope caps for that end of the scope because I'd probably just take them off in frustration when I was out shooting with them assuming I'd keep adjusting the ocular lenses.

If anyone's curious about the scopes I'm talking about here they are...

I'm really a diehard Nightforce fan but I can't fault these two scope and they're not all that heavy and the lenses are great. I don't have enough experience to say if the click adjustments are as reliable as my NF scopes but if they are I'll be really thrilled.

BTW... That Amazon Associates crap that shows up can't be erased and I hate it and am NOT an Amazon Associate... LOL

So I realized that I had a Leupold VX6HD 4-24 scope here so I took the ocular Alumina cover off and VOILA it fit's fine on the scopes I was talking about but trying to find the exact same Alumina online got taxing because nobody that advertises stuff want to use the manufacturer's part number. Amazon drove me crazy with it and ebay wasn't much better.

Google helped me find GritrOutdoors.com and guess what? You can enter manufacturer's part numbers and get precisely what you want and no searching through a bunch of close matches. More so.... I found that you can also use Amazon Pay at checkout which makes it super easy and you don't have to let yet another small shooting supply store have your credit card number, address etc.

They also beat Amazon's prices on stuff and another interesting fact. When I tried to buy the stuff on Amazon it was going to be arriving from GritrOutdoors.com in the same time frame Amazon quotes. Interesting huh?

Anyway... I now have Alumina covers, which are absolutely the best I've found anywhere at any price and they're on the way for what I consider reasonable prices.

Problem solved... Now back to getting ready for a range day next week...

I use the Vortex covers on everything, I have a set on my Schmidt , on all my NF scopes my Leupold I even modified a set for my Swarovski binos.

Compared to Butler Creek these things are so far ahead it's not even a competition on any level. I don't know how they compare to Tenabraex perhaps someone here can chime in that has a set of each. I have suspected that Vortex has contracted with Tenebraex to make their caps for them. But without owning a set I can't say for certain.

My last two Lepolds and my NF all came with the caps that connect the front and Objective lens cap with the ling Elastic band. Ill bet you can get one from Leupold.
