I have played with 4 or 5 Creedmoors using factory ammo. The velocity with 143 ELD-X loads from Hornady has been 2550-2650 depending on the rifle. I ran into a guy hunting with a Ruger American who claimed 3100 fps with 140 Bergers.

What velocities are you guys typically getting with this caliber. I find it hard to believe the the factory stuff comes up 500 fps short.

I have 2 6.5 CM`s, one is a tikka 24" that I shoot 2750 fps (140 eld-m) the other is a 26" Savage thatshoots Ruger American Gunner 140 bthp`s at 2720. I call BS on a Ruger American with a shorter barrel going 3100 fps. However, I easily broke 2900 fps with RL 26 and 140 eldms in the Savage. RL 26 is a velocity monster in this cartridge.... H4350 shoots better for me tho. I would ask him if he even owns a chronograph....

Lol I bet it does...

I believe the Ruger American guy was getting 3100 FPS from his 22 inch barrel. It's the powder/bullet combo that is key. His loading uses fairy dust and can only be purchased at Star-trek Conventions and Grateful Dead concerts. The rest of us however need to live with more pedestrian velocity in our 6.5 CM's.

My 26" Browning will get 2,860 with the 140 Berger when using 47.0gr RE26. I haven't loaded any heavier charges but there is still some room for growth.

However, I doubt that I could (safely) exceed 3,000 ft/sec in my rifle.

Here's one that's hard to believe. 45.0 grs. Superformance and a 143 eldx in 3 rifles . All 5 shot average .
TC Compass 22.0 in. barrel 2839 fps
Tikka T3 Lite 24.5 in. barrel 2842 fps
TC Encore 28.0 in. barrel 2879 fps
Tells me you don't need more than a 22 in. barrel to burn a 6.5 Creed bullet down the barrel.
I haven't tested in a Weatherby Vangaurd with 24.0 barrel yet that I just won but I'm sure will be the same. Won the TC Compass also :)
I tested Hornady match 140 eld and Win. Match 140 bthp in the Tikka and Compass. Both in 2600's.
Tikka with eld ave.2642 with Win. 2631.
Sig 140 Match 2578.
Win. Match more accurate .
I posted on here awhile ago the velocities with one shot from 14 different factory loads out of the Tikka.
Was kind of interesting .
If you want it again I'll post it.

Dudes and their monster velocities out of cartridges not designed for that...

I get pretty close to book speeds off Hodgdon reloading site. No surprise there. A dude says his Toyota Camry does 7 seconds in the quarter mile... I say "that's nice". I'm not say'in this guys gun doesn't sling 'em that fast. I'm say'in my gun never will, not do I want it to. If I wanted my 6.5/140's to fly @ 3100, I'd chamber it in a cartridge that does it without breathing heavy.

I got 2840 with the ELDX 143 with my 26" Browning Long Range Stalker. Very suprised by that.
