Been shooting this same load for the past month. Blowing out 40° shoulder. Well I guess higher Texas humidity and 70° temps was too much for the Hornady Bullet.

I smoked a few Sierra hp bullets with my 220 SWIFT some 42 years ago. It showed up as black speckles around the hole in the paper at 100yds at 200 meters it was a black smudge if and when I could find the hit. I'm not buying this one though, 3200fps is not fast enough to burn up a bullet. Maybe the plastic tip, which is why hornady changed to a different compound in the first place. They needed the tip to be more heat resistant, so they dropped the AMAX and replaced it with the.ELDX. is this guy shooting an old batch of amax? Sounds more plausible than barometric pressure and humidity to me.

...had a friend with a .243AI that I believe was an 8 twist that did it with every bullet 95grain..looked like a little oil slick...guess that's entering the plasma state...lol

No plastic tip it's an HPBT.
Odd that it's been fine up until today. Weather is the only thing that's different.
It does have a fast TR for 80gr bullets. Just surprised it would do this with 75gr.

how fast? know you like your hammers so 6.5 or 7 twist will be way over on rpms.
6.5= 360,997
7= 335,212
also the possibility of carbon build up in the throat.

Just went through this for the first time with my 6.5PRC and the 147ELDM at 2910fps they seemed fine but at 2950 they came apart about every third round. I backed them down but I will switch to Berger for this rifle in the future. 1-8 twist 22 inch barrel .

I saw a Hornady ELDM come apart at a competition last year out of a 6CM. I wasn't the spotter so I had the luxury of relaxing my focus and the first thing I noticed was a smoke ball about 20 yards from the muzzle. No down-range impact or splash to be seen.

Hornady seems to make their bullets out of stale gummy bears
