Using "Proof" ammo to reload?

Greetings all. I recently was lucky enough to get a great deal on a Winchester model 100 in 284 WIN and that will complete my M100 collection. I hunt in NC/SC and do my own reloading. As anyone w/a 284 WIN can attest, finding actual 284 WIN brass is tough (and expensive). Now to the question: Is there any reason I couldn't take old "proof" ammo and use my bullet puller to unload the ammo, then replace everything with modern components?? Tks.

Look for 6.5x284 brass and neck up up .284 (7mm).
