Hello everyone. Sorry if this is a repeat, but I have quite a bit of US869 powder to use up. I'm wanting to use it behind a 220 SMK for my 300 RUM. Any good loads to start with, AND how is as far as temp sensitive from 20 to 50 degrees?
Thanks

Stavi, 869 performed lights out in my 30/378, best groups I've seen. Went up north on a scouting trip with my friends and try some shots. At 50 degrees cooler I had a large difference in performance. I was a little worried about using it on my elk hunt last year and switched to H50BMG. I live in the desert and hunt in the high country, it is a 5500' and about 60 degree difference. Guess the stories about temp sensitivity got the best of me. Like you I have a lot of 869 left. May sell some of it on local Backpage. Just more comfortable with the Hodgdon Extreme powders. This is only my experience, you may have a different outcome. Good luck.

I used 101.5 gr for a load I had used with 210 smk's. Speed was around 3150-3200 the best I can remember. It was very accurate in that rifle but others I've owned didn't like it to much. Can't remember the temp sensitivity but the best I remember it wasn't as good as the retumbo or h-1000 because it's a spherical powder vs the "extreme" extruded powder of h-1000 and retumbo.

Hope this helped, and as always drop your charge 3 gr or so and work up.
