Hey guys,
I saw on this forum once that a guy was making his own custom turret tapes on Excell i think. If i remeber correctly he would use his balistic data that he shot an proved..and then plug in it and print on the paper and maybe laminate it or something and wrap it around his turret in 50 yard increments with tape. I think it looked interesting, It would have looked like a DIY CDS dial or a kenton knob. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this or who to get in touch with???

I have done this but not by using a computer generated strip. I used white electrical tape cut in a 1/4" strip with the range tested, ballistic yardage marked with a fine point black Sharpie. Once marked, I cut another 1/4" strip of clear 3M shipping tape to laminate it. I originally did it because the black on white turrets were hard to read in the shadows and low light situations. It works great, guarantees the exact settings, can be easily changed if you change loads. Also, costs almost nothing except for less than a half an hour of time. The best way to mark the turret is to align the turret zero with the tape zero, then use recorded clicks to mark the distances with the Sharpie.

Same proceedure as Greyfox but I use the peel off envelope address labels, use a fine tip waterproof pen (lots of color options for less than a buck a pen)bought at office max and after getting turret marked I cover with clear packing tape.

greyfox and cowboy got it right!

at least with the home made one you can change your load, elevation, and tempature ranges in a few minutes.
