trying to find the right scope

To the point. I'm blind as a bat thru a scope. With that said, I'm currently waiting on my custom build from Dave Viers (.375VM) and trying to find the best scope for it. I had my eye on a Us Optics SN-9 but they don't make them anymore. I was hoping for something equivalent to it but am drawing a blank. I currently have a USO ER 25 (5-25x58) on my 6mm creedmoor. I love the scope but can't see far/clear enough for what I am looking to do with my new gun. I know Id never find a scope to see bullet holes at 2400yds + but I'd like to see the target clearly. I would like to be at least 10+-40+x min 50. Trying to stay under $5500 for the scope. Any help would be great!

March scopes comes to mind as perhaps the only top-end scope in your stated power configuration. I use a Premier 5x25x56 and while I've looked through it well beyond the range you gave, I've never fired at over 1830 yards. It's the best glass I've ever looked through. Premier is now Tangent Theta, Canadian owned, but retaining same personnel and, I believe, at their Virginia site.

There are other scopes in the range you're looking for, but I have no experience with them as a long range hunting rifle with considerable recoil and using a brake. Unsure about the clarity level either, but these bench rest scopes are worth looking into.

IOR Valadada, Sightron III, Vortex Razor, and of course, Nightforce, should be considered too; I don't know what they offer in 10x40 magnification. Best way is to look through them your self, at the range you intend, and preferably side-by-side. Almost impossible though...

Thank you so much for replying. Not many of the friends I shoot with have huge glass. Pretty much 5-25x58 is the biggest next the vortex pst 6-24x50. Im very hesitant to find a magnifier to ad on. I know theres a benchrest match in ga in april. I might just go to watch and hopefully look thru a few scopes..

Jmo but the 3 March scopes I've had the fortunate pleasure of shooting were not as good as what the price tag suggested. The outside edges of all three scopes were quite noticebly distorted. I was not the only person to see this. Hensoldlt makes superbly clear glass and as mentioned some of the lower priced (nf, vortex razors, etc) are very clear, especially for the money.
caveat: when I said lower priced...... these aren't cheap Obviously!

Not being able to see the target clearly is, IMO, associated with a problem beyond the type/style/power/lense quality of the scope. What I'd suggest is that you visit your opthamologist (not an optometrist) and take your scope with you. That specialist can help you identify what you need to do to achieve your goal. Spending a lot of money on a to quality scope and later finding that the scope was only a part of the problem can be extremely disappointing.

You might be looking for some thing that doesn't exist...alot of power on a sunny day makes alot of mirage,I usually have to back down the power...and the real high power scope usually dont have enough elevation to shoot long distance. I suggest looking for someone that has a good scope and look thru it at the distances you want to shoot....things are not crystal clear @ 2000 plus yards on any given day...these are just my thoughts and experiences..hope it helps

my friends that have shoot WR in 1000 bench use NF nxs 12-42x56.The one guy used a S&B and went back to NF. They also make a 8-32x56,friend had one on his TRG 338 LA,he bench guy also.IOR makes a 4-28x50.S&B 3-27x56,Hensolt 3.5-26x56,top powers less March mentioned

schmidt and bender makes a 12-50x56. I've looked thru one at only 600 yards and it was very very nice. You might have elevation shortages though???

Sorefoot-

It may be worth looking into. I just took a couple of .338's into a smith in Loma, CO. He makes an elevation adjustable, scope base. Sounds and looks kind of funny.

However, the idea behind it is, that you can have your scopes elevation basically in the middle of it's range for optimum clarity and then adjust the base without loosing that clarity. He said that the guy that has the patened on it designed it with "Extreme" ranges in mind. And several of the people who bought them are using them specifically to shoot out past 2k yds.

I have not tried it or talked to anyone who has but the base comes in either 150MOA or 300MOA. So you get some pretty serious elevation out of it. Mounts right on top of a picitanny rail. Here is the web-site: Heritage Arms Cold Shot M.O.A.B. 150 Scope Base - Vertically Adjustable long range scope base

I agree with Fear

Fear has some good advice. Now, Ive used my Premier 5-25X out to 2500y, and my New NF F1 5-25X out to 2085. I have relatively young eyes (39) and both scopes were clear and very usable at those distances. Stay away from the MOAB base as I think there are better options. Yes I bought one and as they do work as advertised, there are too many points of adjustment on it for my taste under heavy recoil. I went with the ERA TAC adjustable base instead, 0-70 moa of adj. Also forget benchrest scopes. The high magnification is of no use at ELR distances (mirage), plus they lack the internal adjustment needed to dial out. 5-25X is the standard for ELR. Premier, now Tangent Theda, S&B, and Nightforce are your best options. I would say Hensoldt, but that is out of your price range.
