A few days back, I posted that I was running out of H870. That is all I ever shot in 7mm RM. Well I'm still running out, but now I have a 300WM and a 338 WM as well to feed and I'd like to get one powder suitable for all three. I like the slower powders like H870 to help cut down on the kick.
Any suggestions ?
TIA, Dennis

I'll make the assumption you are shooting 168g+ in your 7rem mag and 200g+ on your 300WM and a 250g in your 338WM. Either H-1000 or IMR 7977 would be my first stop. I haven't tried R-26 yet but it may well be a good choice for the 7 and 300WM. Your 338 WM may be more suited to H4831sc due to the larger bore ratio.
I only have three rifles that share the same powder, even in identical chamberings. I'd buy a pound of each and test in each rifle then buy at least 8 pounds of what each likes best .

A "slow" powder is going to require more of it compared to a faster powder to achieve a given velocity. With more powder you have more recoil not less since more mass is going out the barrel. Equal and opposite reaction still holds.

As to your powder choice. I would look at RL-26 as was mentioned above. It is very high performance and Alliant has load data on line for the 7mm RM and the 300 WM and you might like it in the 338WM depending on bullet choice etc. Good luck.

Forgot to add:
7mm RM - 160 gr.
300 WM - 180 gr.
338 WM - 225 gr.

I guess I like the slower powders because the recoil is more of a shove than a sharp kick.

Thanks, Dennis

I'd say 7828. It gives you the higher velocities in each cartridge and you can buy it anywhere. I have seen it on the shelves of every store I buy reloading supplies.

Looking at this list I feel IMR 4831 or Norma MRP would be a good powders to try.

I started using it a lot during the "hard times" (2012-2015) when most of the other powders I had been using were unavailable thanks to Obummer and his attempted gun-grab. And it turns out is one of the most versatile powders I've ever used. I use it from my .25-06 AI up to my 7mm STW's and .300 Ackley.

H1000, RL23, RL26. If you are pushing heavy for caliber bullets RL33 is another good one to try. RL 23 and 26 have burn rates similar to 22 and 25 but the load data is not interchangeable so if you can't find the data you need be cautious and work up slow.

Retumbo has become my go-to powder over the past year. Seems to give me good velocity vs pressure with heavier bullets, and I gravitate toward the higher BCs of heavier bullets when possible . I generally try to stay with the Hodgdon extreme powders as temperature effect can be a major issue in AZ. Where we hunt mornings can start out at 8000 ft and 30 degrees and end up at 4000 ft in the afternoon at 90 degrees. I have pet loads with Retumbo in 6.5-06 to 338 Edge. I still use some of the Alliant, Win and IMR powders but we normally run higher pressures for maximum energy at long distances and have experienced some significant pressure issues at high temperatures with Alliant and Winchester.

I have seen IMR 4350 work well in all of them...

I agree, imr4350, h4350, imr or h4831 could POSSIBLY satisfy all three barrels.
H1000 will be way too slow burning for 338 wm. However, there's a good chance that all three of your barrels/ bullets of choice might not like the same powder.
You might find yourself getting another powder for one or more of your barrels eventually.
