Tract Optics Toric UHD 30mm 4-20x50

Europeans have been using FFP for many decades with good results. Deal with it or stay stuck with SFP and no ranging ability unless you are on max power.

If my Bushnell laser rangefinder binoculars say "1.8 mils" I can use ANY power setting on my rifles with FFP reticles to hold 1.8 mils. But with my old Burris SFP Black Diamond scope I have to crank it to max power to use my mil dot and get an accurate hold.
'nuff sed.

You sound like a liberal! Europeans also have a 50% tax rate, slow economic growth, the majority of their population is on welfare, weak militaries that don't contribute to nato, crappy health care (hey it's free though), and a huge immigration problem.

You really want to be like Europeans?? ;):D

Jk, FFP scopes are where it's at. I just moved all my scopes over to FFP. It makes zeroing scopes super easy too. I don't think I'll ever go back to SFP.

Looks like I will have to stay stuck in the Cro-Magnon era with my SFP scopes.

Nothing wrong with SFP, especially if you dial. FFP is just easier for quick calls. The reticle on low end on FFP kind of sucks.

Actually 300whisper I am a PROGRESSIVE Democrat. I supported Bernie Sanders and wish he'd won. Now we (and our allies) deal with a very flawed presidency. Remember, all of us here on LRH can't be Republicans.

Politics aside I use a Bushnell ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 on my Ruger Precision Rifle for competition and am very used to using it on 6 power when I need to. It works well at all ranges for PRS and other competitions. Once you understand it it's easy to use, especially with the H59 "Christmas tree" reticle.

And BTW, all military snipers, of every nation, use FFP scopes so it can't be that bad.

Not entirely correct. While most "modernized" countries do, plenty of other countries do not.
Actually the US Army just started issuing FFP to conventional forces a few years back on only one Sniper Weapon System, the other 2 basic issue SWS optics are SFP.

Jesus! Where's the block button?! :D

The H59 the Horus reticle? Every FFP scope I see that has that style reticle goes up significantly in price. I guess cause it works. I really, really like the SWFA design. It's so simple, and easier to sort out than the typical mil dot configuration and it doesn't contest the scope for lack of a better term. The only issue, which the H59 addresses, is that you have to dial windage with the SWFA reticle design.

Also with the military, the snipers I saw used the leupold mark 4s. I felt bad for them. They had mil dots, SFP, and MOA dials lol...the scope on my M4 was "FFP" since it was a fixed 4x ACOG with .33 MOA adjustments! Super precise!! Lol :)

Yeah, feel sorry for me when I take my .300 Win mag Browning A-Bolt out. It has a Burris 3 - 12 x 50 SFP, MOA turrets with Mil Dot reticle!! GAK!
That scope is 25 years old and Burris likely didn't want to spend for mil turrets at the time. Plus, I was not yet schooled on the MOA turret/mil reticle problem. But it did not take long at the range and hunting to bite me in the *** and "school" me.

BTW, besides being a (choke) Democrat, I am an NRA member and have been for decades. Maybe I am a bit schitzo. ;o)

Are you ANTIFA on LRH?;) Just kiding:cool:

What is retarded is buying a scope that goes from 5-25x... in the first focal plane... and then expecting that reticle to be just right at both ends.

👍🏼 Your comment shines a helpful light on one of the challenges with FFP scopes (and yes, before you ask, I am one enthusiastic FFP user).

It's not that you can/should use "FFP for high magnifications" (LRH and LRT), and "SFP for low magnification scopes" (close range stalk and thicket).

🔸The issue is not what the top magnification is — but what the magnification range is.

Because the scope manufacturers have to make reticles that are somewhat still visible at the bottom magnification — AND that are also not too large to cover up the target at the top magnification. 😊

🔸For example:
Say the magnification range is small, e.g., 3-fold on a 3-9x, or a 4-12x, or a 5-15x.
Now that won't be much of a problem. You'll still have pretty thick reticle lines at the bottom magnification, and nothing too thick at the top either.

BUT:
If the magnification range is large, this gets progessively more difficult to do, e.g.
5-fold: 3-15x, or 4-20x, or 5-25x
6-fold: 3-18x, or 4-24x, or 5-30x

❓Now, why would anybody in their right mind want such a large magnification range...? 🤦🏻‍♂️

➔ The answer lies in the type of shooting they do, and the type of budget they decide to have for their shooting hobby.... 😄
Because:
Specialist scopes on specialist guns for specialist shooting scenarios are great (and the amount of gun closets some of us need to justify to their significant others illustrates this).
But sometimes I might need a do-it-all scope on a do-it-all gun for a wide variety of shooting scenarios....

Just sayin'. And yes, last week I was looking at an SFP — so, I'm open to both options. 😊

Hunters complain about FFP scopes because they typically buy too much scope for a hunting rig. They think a 5-25x56mm is somehow appropriate on a deer or hog rifle.

A 1-6x FFP is very handy in the deer woods.
I recently bought an FFP 5-25x56 With a 34mm tube, illuminated. I haven't taken it to the field yet, but fortunately for me, my eyes are lousy. If I was a fly, I would starve to death because I can't see sh!!. Lower magnification gives me a wider field of view, but what the heck, I can enjoy the scenery after the shot. I'm "that guy" that aims for one particular hair when I shoot. Most of the time I can't find that particular hair after the shot. Like I said my eyes ain't worth talking about.

I think there is a some what of a disconnect that we see. lots of people say FFP, FFP, go the tactical forums, its basically if its not FFP its crap. for me a FFP scope is freaking an expansive paper weight. What in the hell good is a reticle you can't see on low power. After watching things play out on the forums etc. I have come to the conclusion is nearly everyone is shooting their gun at the range, not in the field. They are using their scopes on medium to high power. FFP works for them. as a hunting scope you need to see the reticle on low power. FFP is a fail in a hunting scope.
Thank you I could not have said it any better! Tribb
