Total Shoulder replacement...

Dogz, thank you for the update. Looking forward to hear how the therapy goes and full use.

I will be 70 this year. Had both knees replaced, my surgeon highly recommends that should schedule either shoulder for replacement then followed by the other.

The 10 pound limit bothers me, my NM competition rifles are all over 10 pounds. The lathe chucks are all way over 10 pounds. I am not about to give up competition shooting nor give up changing chucks in my lathes...maybe my doctor's caution about 10 pounds is not that realistic.

Wishing you the best days ahead as you go through the sessions with you Pain and Torture Specialist.
"I'm not old, my body just wore out".😁

I'm at the point I consider each surgery simply to be part of the million mile overhaul.

I've had 3 shoulder surgeries, and the recovery time decreased after each one. Using the cold therapy, diligent PT, and doing your homework at home. If therapist gave me exercises for home, I did them and I could actually see the dramatic improvement at next sessions. Do the work and see the results.

had my first post op check up yesterday, surgeon was very happy with how things are coming and looking so far. Got clearance to get rid of those darn compression socks, allowed to drive again and can begin PT. Plus the staples were removed, so all's good.

Range of motion really good, on a couple of the movements he actually asked me to not take them so far.

Thanks for all the comments, thoughts and prayers.

Need to get after the PT as I have my left knee scheduled for June 22 for a total replacement:)

Stick with the PT. Darn you are catching up with me as far as metal. When I go through a Metal detector, I always tell them that I have more metal than a Chinese PinBall Machine!
We are praying for you!!!!

Had my 2nd PT today, so far going well. Lots of icing and take things slow...to date plenty of range of motion without much work. They're really cautious about going to far too fast which is fine with me. I don't wish to do this again:)

The hard part is yet to come. Dont get frustrated and stock up on pain pills.

keep us posted please my surgeon wants to replace my shoulder and i don`t wanna do it ,i have had both shoulders already operated on and the left shoulder is still will bad. good luck,Twolf

Dogz good luck with your recovery. I go the 16th for an MRI. Dr thinks I need a replacement but could possibly get away with a clean out for now. I'm not quite bone on bone but getting close.

I was totally bone on bone..........PT is coming along well, in my second week of it.

Range of Motion is coming along well and am taking it easy and not pushing it just like they've asked.

Stay the course and I'll be fly fishing for the hopper hatch come August:) (that'll be good PT time for my left knee that we're replacing June 22

Week 6 report, range of motion coming along well, going to PT 3 days a week and doing the exercises prescribed to me by my PT at home on the off days. Only taken a couple days off so far when I was still sore 24 hours later.

To date, both my Dr and my PT are very happy with how it's coming along.

Next week we begin to work in resistance training, mainly with bands.

Sleep is still my biggest challenge, some of that is my age (63) and some of it is recovery.

Hope all's well where ever you're at. Spring time in the Rockies is great! Snow gophers are out in full force.

@dogz: taking pressure off shoulder for sleep is best means to get sleep. Recliner decent but I found that a Zero Gravity Lounger gave me best sleep. It is wide open for shoulders so no side pressure. I added a 3" foam mattress and it has helped a lot.
