Today's prices

Went to the gun store today to pick up a couple pounds of powder and a few primers. A couple weeks ago powder was about $25 a pound. Today it was $38, dang this hurts. Br4 primers were $65 a thousand and were $45 a couple weeks ago. Supply vs. Demand I guess. I'm just happy they had a few things still in stock.

Around here powder was around $23-24 per lb a month agao, and it was still the same price yesterday when I picked up some. This is in spite of them selling out and restocking about 3 times in that time period.

same here-- I'd look at other stores in your area-- the sales have disappeared here but the prices haven't done a moon shot. A few things have gone up a buck or so on a re-stock but that's it.

I gotta laugh...I had100 new Lapua brand 338 brass for sale. I paid 279.00 PLUS shipping from Sinclair. I see that EVERBODY had it on sale for 259.00 (+ frieght), but NOBODY had any in stock.....All were on backorder status. So, I advertised for 270.00 DELIVERED (a loss of 21.00) and GOT FLAMED over on another site because I wasn't the cheapest one out there!!! On the same fourm were 30 round clips advertised for QUADRUPLE thier normal price.

Sold it here with no complaints!!

I understand why the black rifles are disappearing and why the prices are going through the roof. I don't understand what's going on with ordinary components? The war machine has been downsized significantly and components previously needed to supply the military should be more readily available for the civilian sporting market.

It's really the moron effect... Everyone without a clue starts buying blindly when someone like our current pres. opens their trap against something like guns. Then the sensible people get scared they may not get their favorite pills and powder so they finish killing the market. Classic market run.
The only solution is to keep inventory of everything you'll need for the next year or two so a market run won't affect you. I've only bought a few boxes of bullets in the last month; I have 5,000 rounds and 5,000+ bullets in inventory with enough powder and primers to push what I've got.

psychos, crazies, media exploitation, socialist agenda... you control / limit the ammo you effectively control the guns. Can't have a socialist government with an armed population.

I went to a gun show here in New Bern, NC yesterday and left frustrated. Powder and primers went up, but only about $2 (surprisingly) which was reasonable after reading some of the earlier posts. What ****ed me off was the prices the dealers were asking for the AR's. One vendor said his AR was on sale for $2100, marked down from $2400! I told him 6 months ago the same AR was on sale for $800. Pretty much said supply & demand....and people were buying them! I usually go to the smaller gun store by my house and pay a couple bucks more for the items because it supports the local guys. However, this is ridiculous! I didn't argue with the guy and didn't make a scene because it's a business and people were still buying at these outrageous prices so that's his right. What get's me ****ed was that these same guys were the ones in the gun shop bitching that oil companies were price gouging every time a hurrican comes through here and gas goes up 50 cents! Oh well, I guess I'll stop supporting them and go back to ordering online where it's cheaper anyway.

I'll get off my soap box now
