I was 12 minutes too late. Congratulations MachV. I think 338 Fed is the definition of under-rated calibers. You got a deal.
Inside of 400 yds, yup. It's nice to shoot too. Light recoil. I haven't shot the Tilkka but I imagine it's no lighter than the savage. Sweet pick up. Enjoy

I bought a Tikka T3 stainless fibreglass in .338 Federal when they first came out. It's all my wife will carry now and she has taken deer and elk with it. Great caliber, will shoot 160 TTSX for deer and 210 Nosler Partitions for moose, elk and bear. Accurate and hard hitting in a lightweight package.
