Tikka Fluted bolt

Seems purely cosmetic and a touch of marketing .

Here is LRI's statement.

Bolt fluting is a cosmetic upgrade. About like a fresh set of nice alloy wheels on a car. The long-standing debate about its ability to "scrub" the raceways of foreign material is one that LRI doesn't involve itself with. Bolt fluting does offer some degree of weight reduction, although the gains are probably best described as trivial.

We treat it as a cosmetic alteration to add a little personality to your rifle. Nothing more. Although a simple cosmetic alteration to the bolt, if fluting is done "wrong" it can impair the proper function of your rifle. LRI's bolt fluting service maintains full functionality of your bolt in all cases.

Had LRI and Kampfeld customs do one each. Both done a great job and both had quick turnaround. Be sure to include a note as to whether you are sending your bolt stripped or unstripped. This will help those guys out when they get ready to ship it back.

LRI did a couple for me also. Be sure to insure your bolt on its way to Sturgis, and include insurance when you prepay to have shipped back. You'll be very happy with their quality overall.
