Longriflesinc.com did mine and it came out awesome.... Took less than 3 weeks from when I sent it till it returned...

The flutes are to allow dirt and grime a place to go so the bolt doesn't jam. Most will never get that dirrty But that is their function

I've used longriflesinc and twisted barrel, both do a great job. you may want to touch up the fluted with some emery cloth afterward to knock down the new edges, otherwise they make for an attractive and slightly more functional bolt.

Yup what wedgy said... along with ice. less surface area to potential freeze shut if you're out in the cold weather and get moisture in there
