With not being able to respond in original thread here I go.

Multiple issue happen with multiple smiths on 1 product! Getting a blank, there's the maker. Having it chambered, there's another. Having it threaded is another, but could be done by 1st or 2nd smith! I don't see how the 1st is responsible for the end user after 2nd 1's idea can shorten life of product. 2nd 1 blames the 1st and/or both blame the end user because it's just easier to do! Having all involved to be 100% honest not just 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% honest! I haven't had anything from Bartlein or anything +p throated, so I'm not on 1's side or the other. A big reason I don't send blanks off to have someone else do the rest of the work. If whomever is doing the chamber/threading/crowning/contour/fluting and messes it up they (most won't, but few will) not pay for another barrel because it didn't come from them. If the problem is past the +p then it's the barrel makers problem/fault. For continued support both barrel maker and +p throater needs to work together FOR the end user! Business must be good for both to wright you off and others to come!

Buy a quality blank, send to a good gunsmith, have it Chambered to a quality action, have same smith cut the muzzle. Bead blast matte finish on the steel, one the best smith's on this site is anti cerakote, says things shoot better in raw finish I don't know, but that's his opinion. At this point, if the chambers square, muzzle is square you're reloading and shooting principles are sound, it's the barrel that isnt shooting. One shouldn't have to try 6 bullets and 8 powders either for find consistent half moa or less accuracy. If a barrel is that picky, it's still junk in my opinion. Oh and if you don't like picky Barrels, NEVER buy a carbon.

I do have a few carbon wrapped barrels and so far no issues on pickiness.

I have some that shoot lights out, but in the 30 or so rifles I've built, bought, or done load development on, it's easier with a steel of comparable or heavier weight. I think the the lighter the barrel, the tighter the tune windows are. Just my personal opinion. There's more potential to have manufacturer issues as well in a carbon as there are more process involved, the wrap, the resin, a possible unseen void below surface, let alof the added stress from the heavy contouring. No more carbon for me.

Between a 32" ss (savage magnum contour fluted) and a 30" cf (magnum contour), the 32" weighed 14oz more. Not enough weight difference for me to ever buy another cf barrel again. Price wasn't/isn't a concern!

She is shooting her savage axis with the Boyds at 1 stock with a shaw barrel a bolt lift kit and a timney trigger , Talley mounts and a Zeiss conquest scope in the 6.5 creedmoor shooting the Hornady Cx in 130s. I will be u a Montana all weather in 26 nosler also shooting the Cx in 130s with a Zeiss v4 and Talley mounts
