Id swap the Leupold scope for a Zeiss...!

Try HSM 150 Bergers. My 270 loves these and they are good to go at 500.

Elk at 500 yards may be pushing the limit of the FPE as at 500 yards you are looking at around 1200FPE. deer and antelope no prob but elk might need a tad more. Will it work? Sure. Personally the 270 is my all time fave load. I wish it was easier to find a Remington 700 26" heavy barrel as I would go that route over 308 almost always. FPE between 130gr 270 and 175gr308 are almost the same but at 1000 yards the 270 has over 100" less drop.
Do the math.
Personally I am not a leopold fan but if it works for you then go for it.

500 yards would be the max and elk would be a pretty rare occasion. Thanks for the replies.
