Not sure what possessed the previous owner to build this but I ended up with it in a multi-gun deal and need to see this head down the road. I may end up parting this out and keeping the action but I thought I would see if anyone has bad enough taste to want to own this as-is...

I was told this started life as a Sendero Remington 700 but went through the following Bruce Jenneresque transformation:

  • Action trued/blueprinted by a reputable gunsmith from Chinook, MT
  • Trigger professionally adjusted (very crisp, I would guess around 2# but don't have a guage)
  • Super Heavy Douglas .277 bull barrel chambered to .270 Win (using the cleaning rod method this seems to be a 1:10)
  • Fancy Choate "Ultimate Varminter" Stock.
  • 20 MOA Rail
  • Looks like the bolt had some attempt at jeweling but it pretty much just went past the Remington Matte finish and doesn't seem to be down very far into the steel.
The rifle has a few scratches but appears to be functionally sound. It feeds and extracts just like it should (I haven't fired it). I don't have a bore scope but it appears to be in great shape. Nice and shiny with strong rifling.

I am pricing this at roughly what I figure the used parts are worth. Feel free to make an offer if you think I am out of line.

Trued Rem 700- $400
Trigger Job- $50
Choate Stock- $150
20 MOA Rail- $25
Douglas Bull Barrel in a terrible chambering- $100

Total price As-Is- $725 and I will pay shipping to your FFL.

Still has some potential....cerakoteing, maybe rechambering to 270 AI, still couldn't shoot the 170's though....I would change the stock after a while...shoot the berger 150's maybe.

That jewling job though....lol

morning, the stock is very solid. the build looks good. I built

my son a 7mmmag. on a set up like this, except for the rail. shot

berger 168gr bergers .500. this is the build he wanted. he loved

the build. he shot this setup until the day my son was killed by a drunk

driver. I took the set up apart and kept the action.

THK. Ulightbulb:)gun)

Hey man thanks for shoving it up the rear to hard working people on this forum who can't afford a super custom rifle build. If the person sunk that kind of money into it i can sure bet that person was mighty proud of it!! No telling how many working weeks or months it took that person to fund this. You never know it could shoot better than alot of 4k dollar guns. Just like the previous commenter a cerakote job would do it some good. In my opinion it's not too bad, but taste is taste.

The workmanship is not in question...just the choice of a .270 1:10 for a bull barrel mainly. The action is solid and the trigger is fantastic and I have heard nothing but good things about the gunsmith that put it together. I own another rifle that he did some work on and the work is solid. Just not sure what the end goal was since it is hard to stretch out a .270 with that twist. The same seller had a similar setup but in .243 with a 1:8 which makes a lot more sense to me (that one is not for sale :) ) I bought the pair because I can't afford $4000 customs either :)

Sorry if it came off as offensive, just trying to be light hearted about this and drum up some interest. Looks like it worked :)

Really?! Last time I checked we had the right to give an opinion. And let's face it he wasn't making fun of a redheaded stepchild here. This one is close I'll admit! He was simply stating his "wow" factor. Being that in his mind, this rifle just doesn't make sense, even though the individual parts are good quality. So let's relax here people and remember firearms are important to us (some more then others)! But I personally could give a rats *** what people think of my setups. Seriously.

Seriously?? Saying I'm "seeing if someone has bad enough taste to to buy this as is??" That's voicing your opinion? That's like someone saying I'm a moron for driving a 97 model Suburban the 2017 gets better fuel mileage and has an extra cup holder. I just like the guy on here that says " I might be the slowest guy on the mountain but at least I'm on the mountain!" You got to start somewhere man!

This is starting to sound like AR. Can't everyone play nice?

Gawd the snowflakes are melting..

That is one mind boggling build, like putting 20"s on a PT Cruiser.

hard to say what original owner was doing.

maybe he wasnt shooting heavy bullets....

seems odd to you guys maybe, but a .270 win hucks 100/110grns pretty **** fast

No doubt. Light bullets and a heavy rifle like this would be a heck of a lot of fun in a rock chuck area.

I for one found that description awesome. I like the look though in a weird way.
Also maybe he ended up with that twist from smith. I had a very big name smith do my first build and it was a .257 Roy. Did a heavy 28" tube told him specifically I would only shoot 115's and heavier. I didn't know a lot at the time so I told him to use his judgement. Told him was looking at matrix bullets. I ended with a 1/10 twist. Needles to say I can't shoot new long coppers either. Just trusted the smith to much.
I also call several of my rifles piles of ****. Lol
