Updated "The Hammer" (338 Edge porn)

So, this rifle started out as a 7 WSM with a Savage Short Target Action.
Then one day I thought to myself...... I could build an Edge off this action I already have! Buy a barrel and a little gunsmithing, TA DA. New Edge. While Nate had my new barrel and action I thought I should get a fancy paint job done on my stock and order a new brake from Kirby.

This is the end result. I've only shot 4 rounds down the tube so far, all is well and it blew right through 1/2" plate at 200 yards with the 300 Grain SMK. More shooting to come next week.

  • Savage Short Target Action (single shot)
  • 30" Brux Barrel, 9.5 twist chambered by Nate (SSG)
  • Kirby's Painkiller Brake, installed by Nate (SSG)
  • Sightron SIII 6-24X50 mil dot
  • EGW 20 MOA base
  • Nightforce angle indicator
  • Tactical bolt handle by Tactical Works
  • Bolt fluted and coated by Nate (SSG)
  • Stockade Tactical stock airbrushed by friend
  • Hunters Ridge bi-pod
  • Accutrigger set to 14 oz.
  • Weight as is in pics 13 lbs
First steel target is 1/2" mild, cratered it real good and left quite a bulge on the other side, not quite making it through, that was 815 yards. The center hit was the first shot and it tipped over so drove clear back out there, put a big rock behind it, then my little brother shot it up in the right corner which also knocked it over again. We just left it the second time.
Second steel target was also 815 yards but made of Hardox, like AR but even better. It's only 1/2" as well but it did nothing but knock the paint off. I can rub the hits with my finger and it is absolutely smooth, not even a dent. These were 300 grain SMK's mind you. First two shots are only 3 1/4" apart and the third one down lower, just didn't take enough time on it and I think I got a little excited with the dead center hit. It was quite windy so I think it was pretty good.
