With the 30-gibbs you definitely will be one of the few using that caliber. I believer it gets close to 300 wsm velocities..

Guys, I'd just like to give a Shout-Out to our military guys still serving us in the Middle East, and elsewhere! My good friend's son is there, hunting the worst kind of varmints, with his buddies. Using 300 WM's with 202gn Srokin 4-petal solids, they're making hits out to 1600 yds and beyond. Please say a thankful prayer for them! We owe our freedom to such men!!!

So if I was getting 2870 fps in 22" brl in 700ADL 06 with W760 and 180 HH, I bet you might reach 3,100 with the 180HH and RL26 pixie dust in yours. DANGGGGGGG!
Heck the 196HH could be interesting as well. The 700LA has fantastic magazine COAL that allows you to add freebore to set max COAL for great jump.

Aye, Sir, that was my goal. You are correct about velocities near the .300 WSM. However, I already have two .300 WSMs and three .300 WMs for their respective intended purposes. My goal for the .30 Gibbs is for mid-range (<600Y) with 180g and lighter bullets. When I finally have the time, I have some high BC Cayuga 178s (https://patriotvalleyarms.com/flm-30cal-178gr-cayuga-hunting-bullets-50-ct/) to try.
Maybe someday I will explore and stretch out what my .270 AI with 30" Lilja 3G 1:8" can do. My current accuracy load (developed in 2013) is 2993 FPS with H4831SC; I got near 3100 FPS, but the group opened up, and I did not care for the pressure signs.
Which version of MK248 uses solids? Mod0 is 190 SMK, Mod1 is 220 SMK.
GI issue solids would be interesting.

The OP's loads would get me to 700 yards for elk at 4000 ft elevation. Very impressive and the accuracy is there too. Makes me hopeful especially with the herd of bullets in that weight range. A 215 Hybrid would extend the range a bit more.
I am happy to see the resurgence of our venerable .30-06. esp. with new barrels and powders.

Well, this thread has me excited for my new Rem 700 LR, currently I have RL 17 and RL 26 need to get some bullets. Course I need an optic on the gun still too… lol

The Beast 30-06 kills!Undecided whether to take the Beast or one of my 300 Win Mags for the hunt.Figured the 30-06 would do just fine and it did.I used the 63.5grs of Reloader 26 with the 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tip,mv 2992fps.Shot this cull red stag at 200yds and dropped him on the spot.I aimed high and barely clipped the spine.The Ballistic Tip did it's job and exited out the other side with no problem.I tried this 180gr load in a couple of my other 30-06's.My 24" barreled Sako got 2873fps and my 23" Rock Creek barreled 30-06 got 2890fps.That's darn good with a 180gr bullet out of a 30-06.
