Here is a picture of a .308" 180 Nosler E-Tip, .308" 230 A-Tip, and a .264" 153 A-Tip.

With the 230 seated in a .300 Win Mag case to where the beginning of the shank is even with the bottom of the neck, I got a coal of 3.83" (if I did my "Jethro syphering" correct). If seated to 3.34" COAL, you would have 1.045" of bullet, in the powder column.

Anyway, just wanted to share my boredom :)

Let me know what kind of velocity you are getting. The .300 Norma is about the king now isn't it? Right there with the .30-378?
A 300nmi gets very similar velocity as the 300 RUM, my case is 107-108gr, where 300 rum is 110. A 300 lapua mag, or improved version of it is the next step up in my opinion. I'd never go 30-378 as brass isn't the best, nor do I like belts or the double radius shoulder.

I was doing some more figuring (I know, dangerous) I will rebarrel my Ruger .300 Win Mag to a .300 WSM. Then, a 230gr A-Tip set out as far as possible gives a COAL of 3.30".

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in these pictures, or if they are even good for anything, but what the hay right?

I'm waiting on some of the .375 390gr for my .375 AM.
Should be a nice round that still mag feeds.
Hope they end up working well on game also.
Me too! What powder(s) you looking at trying? And what's your barrel length and twist?

I mean no offense to anyone, but why not just use a hunting bullet ? Does that +0.015 better BC make it worth taking the chance?

From the looks of these things, I think they make pencil holes in and out.

all pictures and info on new bullets is helpful.
my expansion testing with the 153s in my 6.5 PRC were not good but very accurate out to 400 as far as I shot them.
on another forum they used the 230s in the 300 terminator and the on game performance was devastating with massive destruction but bullets exploded and never exited even at long range. they were running them at 3200 fps

So they either pencil through or explode on contact, you could have just said Berger like performance!
Just playing of course! About to go load some 230's up for the RUM, Bergers that is.:D

I shot 6 Whitetails with the 153's from a PRC running 2980 last week.

1. Doe broadside at 118 yds hit shoulder plate exited with silver dollar size hole DRT
2. Doe at 186 quartering sharp hit neck shoulder juncture exited behind last rib with guts in exit hole... ran 40 yards
3. Doe at 184 quartering sharp hit neck shoulder juncture no exit ran 60 yards piled up.
4. Mature buck at 302 yds shoulder shot bullet under hide on opposite side just behind shoulder mushroom bullet weighed 66.5gr. DRT
5. Doe at 602yds shoulder shot bullet zipped thru hit dirt 30 yds beyond deer exit was at least 1.5 inch diameter and great blood trail deer jumped fence ran 40 yards.
6. Doe at 385 shoulder shot silver dollar size exit with great blood trail ran about 35 yards.

I switched the next day to the 156 Berger shot 4 more with pretty much same results on all.
