The A-Tips are impressive just to look at

I shot 6 Whitetails with the 153's from a PRC running 2980 last week.

1. Doe broadside at 118 yds hit shoulder plate exited with silver dollar size hole DRT
2. Doe at 186 quartering sharp hit neck shoulder juncture exited behind last rib with guts in exit hole... ran 40 yards
3. Doe at 184 quartering sharp hit neck shoulder juncture no exit ran 60 yards piled up.
4. Mature buck at 302 yds shoulder shot bullet under hide on opposite side just behind shoulder mushroom bullet weighed 66.5gr. DRT
5. Doe at 602yds shoulder shot bullet zipped thru hit dirt 30 yds beyond deer exit was at least 1.5 inch diameter and great blood trail deer jumped fence ran 40 yards.
6. Doe at 385 shoulder shot silver dollar size exit with great blood trail ran about 35 yards.

I switched the next day to the 156 Berger shot 4 more with pretty much same results on all.
It sounds like all the hits were made on areas of mass and bone. Have you seen any just shot through the rib cage?

No I have not....
Should have thought to do that but was mainly focused on getting deer down quickly to not have to drag to far thru the brush.

Understood. Thats The goal after all.
Just curious because Ive always thought that penetration would not be an issue but still wonder how easily they expand?

I sent him an email. Would someone be willing to load a couple up for.him to try? I'd think load them to 2000-2250 fps, to replicate them at distance.

I was seeing more tumbling than expansion. shooting through shoulders how much bloodshot meat, what were the internals like, did you find any bullet fragments or multiple exits on off side. my concern is that a tumbling bullet will kill but not always reliable.
thanks for your experience and pictures with these bullets being so new the more info the better for all of us.

Thanks for taking time to share. Expect them to be very accurate but at the end of the day for me how do they perform on game from the prc. Great info and nice rig looks like from the guys at Horizon!

Deer shot with a 135 grain A tip out of a 6.5saum, it was copper creek loaded ammo. Shot at 330 yards. He was DRT, didn't run didn't move. It literally knocked him off his feet. Hit left side just above elbowish blew out his heart had fragments exit right side of neck.

Let me know what kind of velocity you are getting. The .300 Norma is about the king now isn't it? Right there with the .30-378?

Not even close. The Norma comes in at about 300 Wby performance. The guys that run much higher chamber pressures will brag about higher speeds, but loaded to same pressures it comes in shy of 300RUM

Yes it's a Horizon Switch barrel, I have 3 barrels right now and have been very pleased with the setup.
6.5 PRC has been excellent on Whitetails and also took several Aoudad with it as well.
Couple from this year.
