Where the Lord Needs Me
Hello, all.

I came by this site while researching a new rifle. After trying out just about everything (except recalled Remingtons) at a local gun store, I was surprised by the one I liked best. Out of Rugers, Savages, Marlins, Brownings, Weatherbys, Winchesters, Mossbergs, Howas, and Tikkas, my favorite was the Howa Hogue 1500. This surprised me especially since I thought the 1500 and the Vanguard were the same. Well, at least on the two I compared, the Howa had a better trigger and slicker bolt. I did a Google search trying to learn more about them. As such, one is on the way as I type. :D

I thought this site was right up my alley. Shooting what I would call mid-ranges (200-600 yards or so) is what interests me the most. So far, I have never exceeded 300 due to a lack of location at which to attempt. At 300 yards, I was able to create an 8-inch 5-shot group with my PTR91. That satisfied me as far as that rifle is concerned, but really wanted a good rifle for tighter groups. My first buy was not so great. I skimped, and went with a cool-but-weak choice in a bolt gun--a sporterized VZ24. Groups actually lagged the PTR's groups.

I'm a family man, through and through. 28, married for 8 years, and we have 4 kids-two boys, and two girls. My wife is my world. Married as teens, we had a lot of odds to beat. She is everything to me, and she reports that I am everything to her. My kids are fantastic, and I am partial to my little girls. :)

In addition to shooting, I really enjoy watching and playing baseball. My absolute dream job, aside from BEING a pitcher, is to be a pitching coach. My current job is pretty sweet, too, though. I am a marriage and family therapist. Previously, I was a Social Studies teacher. Additionally, I love to read, study, learn, and do research on topics that interest me--Geography, Economics, Praxeology, political theory and philosophy, non-political philosophy, religion, U.S. History, Soviet/Eastern European History, shooting, hunting, prepping, survival, systems theory, communication theory, etc.

I believe in God, the Father (Elohim), and in His Son, Jesus Christ (Jehovah). I act on faith as much as I can. Interestingly, I am naturally a skeptic. If I could deny God, and His role in my life, I would; it just cannot be denied. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church). We are a peculiar people and Church. We believe many things to be sins, but also believe in the freedom to choose. We believe we have the whole, complete, true Gospel of Jesus Christ, but also believe non-Mormons can, and will, receive exaltation. I'm grateful for The Father, His Son, and this Church in my life.

I have been all across this fruited, promised land, and currently find myself in Ohio. I've also lived in, or spent considerable time in, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and Michigan.

It's good to be here.

Welcome to LRH and enjoy!

Just want to point out that this one of the best intro I've seen in a awhile.

There are many folks here that likes the 1500 and are always willing and able to help out.

FYSA, the custom search on the top right corner is a very useful tool.

Again, welcome and good luck!

Ed
