Can any one help me with this combo? This is fr my AR, If that matters, I also have H4198 on hand. My manual doesn't list the FMJBT.
Thanks.

I have been loading for over 30 years and have found that when using comparable bullets, cup and core type, as long as you begin with the start loads and work up slowly you will be OK. My Hodgdon manual list 55 gr Speer sp which is a cup and core bullet and your Hornady FMJ is a cup and core bullet also start load with Benchmark is 24.0 grs and max is 25.6 grs. With Mono type bullets 55 grs start is 21.0 grs and max is 23.4 grs.

Thanks, I did a workup starting at 22gr and went to 25gr. I think ill pull the ones leading up to 24gr.and start there...

What caliber? My Hornady #8 lists data for 223 rem and Benchmark 55gr #2267 BT-FMJ w/c start at 21.6 max at 24.5. IMR 4198 17.4 -20.0. Neither are the fastest powders tested.

It is listed with all the other 55's.

Good luck and shoot straight
