Hey I am new to ELR and am looking at various rifles/scopes etc as well as barrel length and ammo, would much appreciate experienced shooters input and opinions. At the moment I am looking at a barrett mrad in .338 lm with a us optics 5x25 scope. I live in new Zealand and will be shooting mainly in the ranges at red and sika deer out to about 1600yds max. I will be hand loading my own ammo so any info on this would be much appreciated.

dig around on the site and you'll find plenty on the bigger 338's. Most of the guys are tossing 300 bergers in their lapua's... I'm working more with the bigger 7mm's and 30's so I can't be specific on the lapua. The uso scopes have a good rep. but again I will not comment directly on it as I do not own one.
