This evening was a great father son experience! Tonight he was able to take his first deer. We have spent the past few days striking out, moving blinds and doing man stuff. But tonight with about 15 min left to hunt he had to get into a difficult position shooting back behind us with the rifle on my shoulder to make the hit. He hit her in the shoulder she ran 40 yards and dropped. He was so stoked. I was immensely proud of how he handled himself all weekend from helping at the camp to the patience he showed in the stands, shooting a borrowed .243 and not knowing what to expect. He says he's hooked now.

Oh hell yes!!!!! I just wanna give both of you a big high five about this, the kind that hurt the hand they're so enthusiastic haha. I remember my first deer…as they say, you always remember your first 🤣.

He looks to be a good bit younger than I was when I first got one (though kids at this age all grow at wildly different rates so who knows…I was 13, had borrowed a neighbours rem pump 30-06, fell in love)

That animal will mean more than any trophy buck ever, never gonna change. Happy for
You to have this special time with your son.

I have four kids but the oldest is 5 haha so it'll be a while yet. If you ain't into hunting that's fine with me, they're their own people, don't have to like what I like….but once they're teenagers I'm not BUYING MEAT FROM THE STORE FOR A FAMILY OF SIX CARNIVORES! 🤣🤣🤣🤣. They can hunt or be vegetarians haha. I hope the hunt. The other option is just so sad. But with the price of
Groceries three growing boys and a girl that's much more carnivorous than any of her brothers will be tricky. If any of them
Will have no problem killing to eat it'll be her haha. She's got it in her more than any of her brothers haha.
