Some hammer damage

So for anyone who thinks monos don't expand. Here is my 124 hh in a pig at 60 yards.
This is the worst damage I've seen. These bullets are amazing. Best performance I've ever seen on game. Nothing has gone more than 60 yards with shots behind shoulder.

what state was this in and what caliber? that's some massive meat damage lol.

Texas, and was a 6.5 creedmore.
After talking with Steve my first thought process was correct. I've never seen any damage like this before with hammers. Usually a perfect 1.5"-2" exit.
I think I hit solid bone and the fragments of bone is what caused the massive trauma.
I've actually seen this one other time with my .257 Roy on a pig. And it had tons of little bone fragments in it. I was just not paying close enough attention on this one as I was on my hike back for lunch. So I grab the meat I could save and ran.
Also forgot my meat bags so I walked bag with meat hanging out of every pocket in my hunting clothes.

Ya just started load work on the 99's in a few Grendel's one setting up for quick detach thermal to day scopes. One less rifle I need to bring to Texas if I get that setup.

interested in how that turns out. I have only loaded the 123 SST in my 18 and 12.5 grendal. Both like the 8208xbr And not thrilled with the velocity would like to crank it up and A 99 grainer might just be the ticket. What powders are you trying. The grendal seems to be a finicky guy to reload for. But those Hornadycustom shop 123 ssts hammer in 4 different Grendel's I and buddies have. Don't know how they do it.

8208 is money in 3 different Grendel lms from bolt to ar. With the 123 eld. Speed is on par with factory stuff but I just think the 123 gr is a bit to much for case capacity of the grendel unless just punching paper or steel way out. The 100gr I think will be king.

I also tested my hammers on aoudad this week. 181 gr. In 30 Nosler at 3314.
Shot was 522 yds. One ridge to another and could not get an inch closer. It was a high shoulder hit. Missed the spine by 1/2". My intent was lower but I still have a way to go for technique. Never made a shot beyond 250 before. Probably even less. Anyway, the bullet left a quarter to half dollar size hole all the way through. I found copper petals at the exit but the bullet was gone.
He fell in a heap and I walked up to finish him.

180 yds. Slightly quartering towards me. 174g hammer hunters from a 300 wsm. I was worried about the effectiveness of these bullets because our deer are so small here. Turns out better than expected. The entrance right behind shoulder. Did not want mess up any meat. The exit was 1.5" and a small hole about a inch away where one of the petals exited. Very happy with the hammers. @RockyMtnMT

I loaded my Grendel AR with 99 grain Hammer Hunters over a stiff load of AR Comp with CCI450 primers and got 2848fps from a 20" Bartlein 5R 8 twist barrel. Shot a nice group as well.
