Yeah, I have tried one. Didn't get that good of results... I'm eyeing the bolt lift kit by Grimstod... that looks great!

I love savages i have had at least 10 different models.
Currently i have a savage lightweight hunter with a carbon 6 barrel in 6.5 CM, titanium bolt handle and carbon knob, talley lightweight rings and leupold 4-14x50. weighs 7.2lbs and shoots sub MOA
Also have a 116 in 300 rum with the only thing on it factory is the barrel and it shoots sub half moa with 220 eldx handloads

BTW- I looked at the grimstod. I do several things. 1 I use the bushing and the allen screw with the point. 2 I grind and polish the button dent to flat surface vs a step. 3. I lighten the firing pin spring. 4. I set the button .80-.100 off the bottom of the ramp.
In some cases savage bolt bodies are not machined quite right and I need to make other mods. Bottom-line, after truing the action, bolt face, and making lift mods a savage can be smooth, fast, and easy to run. Combine that with a sav2 trigger and it can be impressive.

Sounds like you know more about it than I do for sure. I don't doubt they can be made smoother... too bad they don't come from the factory that way. I'll have to look into some of those things this winter
Never tried the sav-2, been happy enough with the sav-1. If I ever needed a lighter pull I'd definitely go that route for sure!

Dad gave me a "walnut finish" 110E in .22-250. He put around 1500 rounds down the barrel and it would still shoot 5 into a 100-yard group you could completely cover with a dime.
Bought a used 11 FXP3 in .243Win for $295 at a gun show. Planned to turn it into a 6.5CM but decided to shoot it first. Bug holes at 100 with the first load. So much for the 6.5CM.
Earlier this year I bought a Savage 111 GNS, for $275 at a gun show. The barrel was rusty and pitted inside and out, so it will never be shot. While my plan was to turn it into a 6.5 PRC, I'm now thinking a .264 WM makes more sense.

Have yet to shoot one that won't shoot MOA or better.

Went and shot my rifle today. The copper solvent did the trick, I was getting one inch groupings with 130 grain SST's and 54 grains of H4831. I also tested some new ammo using Nosler 150 grain ballistic tips with a max load of 55 grains of H4831 and got a .8 inch grouping. Thank you for all the tips and advice given.

I second that. Mine shoots super nice. Little recoil for 300 win mag. I feel like my Ruger 30-06 has bigger shoulder punch. Accurate as you can shoot. The top shoot my uncle shoot the other 2 are from me and are touching .56 moa at 100 yards 50 mph gusts to boot.
I have two and work two Savage 110s for my son Three are F serial # and one is a G serial #. All great performing actionsI have upgraded them all to small firing pins and a little work on the triggers. The key is the barrel. I have several barrels that I swap, ranging from 375 RUM (in work), 338 EDGE (26" hunting and 30"bull target), 243, 22-250, 270, 30-06, 300WM (hunting and another 30" bull target. I bought all four actions as used guns that I upgraded the stocks on. The key is the barrel: buy a great barrel and you will have a great rifle. I use rails on the action and put shims under them to get more MOA use out of my scopes. I would prefer actions with Mauser type extractors but have not come across any I could afford. The 110 is a great action. The bolt follower blocks possible case failure material from being blown along the bolt tracks. Beautiful yet simple design. Easy to change bolt faces from standard to magnum. No need to blueprint (expensive) the action as is done with the Remington 700s, no "bolt lift" issues: just good slick action smooth shooting rifles.
I bought a 110V in 22-250 right as they got some great press about 38 years ago. Shooting Federal Premium 55 grn BTHP, not sure they sill have that offering, I could shoot 10 shots on a 100 yard target and cover all 10 with a dime. Got so dang expensive to buy all the ammo I shot that I went to reloading it with 55grn BTHPs from Sierra. It has killed 4 antelope, close to 100 whitetails, and more prairie dogs than one could ever fathom. That's what caused me to get my Model 12 BVSS in 300WSM and the rest is history.
I have a few Savage rifles and builds (10, 110, and 111s). There out of the box accuracy and DIY friendliness is hard to beat.
My latest build is a .264 WM with 1:7" 26" barrel, but still waiting some time to headspace it.

Nice rig. Did you replace the bolt/body? I am looking to tighten up the action on my model 10 I use for prs. Heard mixed reviews about PTG.
