Snow Shoes vs Micro Spikes

Just re-reading this thread and i agree with you that your "sliding snowshoes" that you call sweeper skis are much faster than snowshoes. And for those not highly skilled at skiing they are the best all around footwear for deep snow, especially in woods and brush where longer XC skis can be tricky to maneuver for the novice skier.

I hunt NW MT deep snow elk n muleys.As the snow stacks up they head down,typically snow shoe is getting deeper than they like.I use to shoe in on some.A staple off my muley gear are aluminum crampons tuned down,file the points so not so long or sharp,its like having four wheel drive,watch you dont get into to crazy spots
