Smokless Muzzleloaders bullet of choice for deer with results

Guys i posted that i finally am joining the Modern Smokeless muzzleloader community in the next few months while my gun is being built. What i am interested in is gathering info on is what bullets and terminal performance you are getting with shot placement and distance.

I know of Pittman and arrowhead bullets as i will be shooting TO START 325GR PITTMAN AEROMAX. I will be calling to get some of the 328 gr too. Reson is i have some areas that closer shot are more possible so a tuffer bullet is desired. Also plan on getting arrowhead and getting the 325 gr version of theirs to play with. Is there others besides these 2 that has the BC these 2 do thats worth considering?

What has your experience been with the bullets you shoot and your point of aim and what has been your performance?

I calked pittman and spoke to the man and he actually didnt recommend aiming at bone because of destruction of everything in its path.

Thanks guys just getting more info for when my SML gets here.
Brian
I don't know why you are talking about 325gr bullets. 275gr is more than enough for any deer. I have 2 rifles that shoot Luke's Arrowhead 275gr bullets. Both will put several rounds into one hole at 200 yards.
I also have some Parker 300gr bullets, but I have not used them. Talk to Bob at Parker - he is super knowledgeable and helpful, and will help you pick the best bullet for your use. My guess is he'll put you onto a 275gr Black Max

I have shot six bucks with Pittman Accumax over the last couple years. One with the 325, the rest with 300s. Shot distance for all has been between 175 and 240 yards. Two bucks went less than 20 yards staggering shot behind the shoulder with 2 inch exits. The other four DRT when they hit shoulder either going in or coming out, and it was destroyed. They are devastating bullets and Kyle is a top shelf person to deal with. My speeds are right at 2850, 1-20 twist Brux 26 inch barrel.
What was the powder load

Well I got to finally use the pittman Accumax 275 gr bullet. Small doe that came out at 25 yards. Yeah close. Behind the shoulder hit and basically it was field dressed. It was unfreaking believable. Seriously about 60% finished.
What a bullet.

Yeah, those close shots can make a mess. What was your velocity? Did you use the regular Accumax or the 'Hard Core' version? I actually knocked off another big doe yesterday afternoon using the 275gr Accumax 'Hard Core'. She was DRT (only 156 yard shot), but fairly "clean" considering the power the bullet had (@ 3,065 MV).

are you running smokeless powder or black powder? I am using the 302Gr Bomb bullets and they have worked well. groups sub MOA and nailed a buck at 200 yards. I'll have to upload the pics off my phone, it was running away from me until it took a bullet, rolled him right up.

Don't overlook Fury's universal. Not a true sabot, almost full bore. The 300's shot best in my Accura and had impressive results in my elk this year, I'm sold on them. They out shot all my saboted loads I tested.

Shot distance was 174 yards and she was "quartering to". She winded me and got nervous and I went ahead and took the shot I had (CVA conversion). Muzzle velocity was in the 2,480's and the impact literally made her stand straight up on her hind legs. This was the Fury 275gr Star Tip 'MZ'.
What powder and charge wt. are you using, I have an 2 Encore conversions, one 209 plug that I have had for several yrs and have always shot 200 gr sabots thru that giving to my daughter and waiting on another to be delivered that has the Arrowhead LRMP plug that plan on shooting the 275 Star Tips so looking for a starting point. Looking at 58-60 gr of IMR 4198 right now just because I have the powder.
Thanks
Aaron

Nice shooting, here I thought I was the only one who could get winded at such a long way.

Take a 275 grain Parker Black Max set it on fire with 72 grains of IMR4198 a CCI BR2 primer and hold onto the reigns @2900 fps!!!! Well I only shot 1 deer which was a buck that shed his antlers but the performance was devastating. Shooting downward angle @130 yards dead centered his heart first deer I've seen picked up out of his bed tossed over a logging road he was watching down hill from! My 9 year old says "holy crap daddy did you see that flip him" I was still chuckling myself! Surprisingly very little bloodshot meat damage even tho my fist fit in the exit hole!!!!! Hankins prefit Brux barrel! The picture in the snow is the exit in his bed. I've used 338 edge on deer and well the impact from this beast was just amazing!

Has anyone tried or debated about trying a hammer bullet in a smokeless muzzleloader? Seems like a good combination to reduce meat damage with the big bullets at high velocities. I don't have a SML but have been debating about getting a barrel spun up for my bighorn origin to hunt the late muzzleloader season here in Wisconsin.
I did the hammer designed for 450 bushmaster I believe 225 grain. To be fair to hammer bullets just something was off on matching up my 20 twist and I only tried 1 powder charge combination but it was a nogo for me.

Literally killer results. 65 Gr of 4198 is max according to Hankins brux barrels.

But so far my results with Pittman bullets are so good I don't have to change. But I sometimes like to play, and when my real smokeless muzzleloader gets here I will play for sure.
