Doing research on powders slower than RE25.

I Found one I can find nothing about, Hogdon 570. Also Accurate 8700 and VV24N41. How can I learn the relative burn rates of powders? I know that VV24N41 is rated at 38 and the 50 powder VV20N29 is 36 (from VV Manual). Would love to find all listed with RE25 as the fastest!

Can anyone help?

Thanx

Here you go Randy.

That's the way it should read...

Brent, That's a very helpful list, Thanks. I'm looking to reload some 300 win mag rounds and was thinking of H-1000, H-4831, Reloader 22 or 25, any suggestions? (26" Barrel 190gr SMK.)

I only loaded for mine for a short while before sending it off to be converted into the 30/338 Lapua Imp. I was using RL22 and 180 Scirocco's and getting under moa at 100 yards at 76.5gr and 3.520 OAL, .015" off the lands. Work up to this load though. I still have a bunch of 165gn and 150gr Scirocco's loaded up I never even got out to test.

BRENT, thanx for the special effort. Has anyone else seen the relevant burning rate published for this same group as I know the burning rate of VV slowest two is 36 and 38 for what I presume is a difference of 1/18th difference???

Familiar to anybody?

Thanx

Some of us have powder that is 11 years old (or more) on the shelf.:D
I just bought a pound of rl25 at a lgs that said new on it; rl25 was new 'roundabouts '04.

Yep. Still got 5 cans, same lot, of the old WINCHESTER WMR that ain't even on the current Winchester burn list. Got it in 1992 and used 54.5gr in my 270 for the 140gr Black Talons. Them were the days......Government did not lie as much back then...LOL.

Randy.....looks like most of your questions have been answered, so forgive me if this has already been covered. H570 is long gone and was an extruded powder with the same burning rate as H870, a ball powder, which was also discontinued a few years ago by Hodgdon. It is still available as military surplus and is marketed by Thunderbird cartridge co. in Az., under the name T870. It is a very good powder in the big magnums giving good accuracy, and top velocities in many cases. It is a pretty dirty powder; however. Hope this helps.......Rich
