I ordered one in XL, just curious, is this pretty warm? I know its meant for cold and extreme cold.
So I really didn’t get to wear it much. I sat in a tree this year with it 30* ish. Sitka thin poly and heavy fleece under it, can’t remember if I had a puffy under or not. Froze my butt off and it wasn’t even cold. I know it is more for the mountain hunter not tree stand but my body gets super hot while moving and then super cold when I stop. I have to do some real hard experimenting to find my got to.
I do really like this jacket though. Bomb proof. If you haven’t tried one on, it’s like soft shell meets goretex. I will look for another when funds are there. I think you will like it with a puffy under when real cold.
Awesome, thanks for the input! I guess when I'm glassing for muleys (hopefully a moose this year) here in Idaho I'll have to have a puffy and the heavy weight hoody too. I have the jet stream which I'll probably wear when I'm hiking.
Not sure about the jetstream. I am in Virginia so the shops are very limited. Can’t try anything on. I would’t carry both the cold front and jetstream. Just wear a t-shirt under the cold front while moving.
Ok that gives me more confidence in it. Thanks again for the time!
Sure. Hope it helps.
This jacket isn’t thin like military goretex. It’s thick. You’ll like it.
Shane , I am like you in body hot/cold. I freeze when I sit.. feet are like ice blocks and are cold while still in the truck before the hunt. After hunting for 50 years in upstate NY (cold) ----down clothing and with wool(King of the Mountain) works best, and now the new electric clothing added to that-I'm toast. Walking around I sweat and get hot quick--have to be careful-if I sweat and sit--well... I can't ! I go home if wet--elk hunting west is difficult for me, I'm either hot or cold.
