Sig cross load data for 308

Great question. I have a few test loads worked up, just need to get to the range. I'll keep you posted. Anyone else who has a load for the 16" I'd be happy to hear about.

The .308 is probably the most commonly shot cartridge. It's going to be either varget, n550, imr 4064. If using varget it's going to land between 41-45 grains with a 175 matchking. Load to mag length or .020 off.

My 308 Ruger M77 mk ii has a 22" barrel and loves 165 gr Sierra GK with 40gr of IMR 4895 at 2.750 oal. The sig cross with 16" barrel, not so much. Hoping to find data specific to the cross.

Each chamber is cut differently, even chambers in the same make of gun are cut differently. You will never find a "rifle make" specific load data.

Perfectly understood. Even the harmonics of each barrel vary. I'm just looking for some good starting points.

Went to the range today and my son was shooting mine. I still haven't started loading for it but he shot this group at 100 yds 3 shot group with factory Federal Terminal Ascent 150g. I wish I could get the 277 fury barrel and a single stage trigger.

Treat it like any other 308. Use a safe starting load with the components you want, and work up as usual. The Sig Cross isn't anything special and doesn't require unique considerations when loading for it.

42.5gr to 44.5gr is a typical sweet spot for many 308s and bullet/powder combos (appropriate powder and bullets that is). Bullets in the 168-195gr range and powders such as RL-15, 15.5, Varget, IMR 4064, etc.
