Sierra Gamechanger bullets.

Well this is the final results of the year for me with the 165 grain gamechanger out of my 28 Nosler. Shot was pretty close at 108 yards and dumped him right over. The deer presented a front shot with very slight quartering. I punched him just inside his left shoulder the bullet completely destroyed one lung, knicked the heart and drove itself to the stomach.

I was able to find the bullet inside the stomach mixed up with the alfalfa and corn.

Bullet shed a little more weight than it did on my elk but it was also traveling about 400 fps faster. The weight retention was at 43%.

Here is the bullet from the elk on the left and from the deer on the right.

So in conclusion I have been very happy with how this bullet operates and its effectiveness on game. Not every year do you get to hit the trifecta in the tag lottery here in Wyoming and this bullet/cartridge/rifle combo put three animals in my freezer with three shots.

About to start load development with the 30 cal 165gr for my brother's 20" 308 next friday. Can't wait to see how they perform. Been debating on the 168gr ELD-M or 178gr ELD-X but didn't think i could get the 178gr to the speeds i want. 165gr should help me get up to 2700fps or so.

I shot a cow elk at about 100 yards with a Sierra Gamechanger just a few days ago. It was the .308 dia. 165 gr. bullet with 56 grs. of H4350 loaded as a 30-06. The bullet went right through the heart leaving a fairly small hole on each side. I did not recover the bullet. I have seen other brands of bullets do much more damage to an animals heart. See photos.

How quickly did the shot dispatch the cow?

I hesitated posting this picture of my New Mexico antelope when I post the others, but since there is concern the game changers don't expand?? The shot was only around 150 yds sharply down hill, but I would say the 165 gr game changer shot from my 7mm STW expanded a lot!

I'd say for a new bullet that has supposedly been tested by Sierra results seem wildly inconsistent. Some are performing then there are cases like that posted above and others at distance where the jackets are completely separating. I liked the idea on paper but i think we're going to stick with the 178gr ELDX or the 168gr Nosler LR accubond

In all honesty the "best" tipped lead core bullet would most likely go to the Edge TLR. Maybe not the best BC but probable the best expanding and weight retention.

The guy that posted the .308 pictures through the heart hasn't given us enough info to make any type of judgement at all. His heart photo could be just a fragments that passed through, he even said he didn't look at the entry or exit wounds.

The pic from the 7stw likely hit right on the sternum at very high velocity (3000+) had violent expansion, and made a massive hole in a small bodied animal.
